Hello all,
This seems like a great Volvo site. Everyone seems very helpful here so I was wondering if you all might help me with something.
I'm in the process of buying a new car, which as everyone knows involves making a lot of decisions. So far, I've managed to decide on make (Volvo, obviously), model (S60), trim level (T5), transmission type (manual), interior (Graphite leather), wheels (17" Amaltheas), and all available packages. But I've come down to one last decision that I'm still struggling with: exterior color. I've managed to narrow the field to two options: Silver or Nautic Blue.
The car looks great in both colors so I'm having a really hard time deciding. Can anyone out there offer any reasons (subjective or objective) for selecting one of these colors over the other? Here's what I've managed to come up with so far, several of which are admittedly subjective:
Argument for Nautic Blue
- More distinctive. At least around Seattle, silver has become a very common color on cars, especially European sports sedans.
- Dark colors look best because they're more reflective. Especially at night or at twilight, when their surface can be almost mirrorlike.
Argument for Silver
- Hides swirl marks better.
- Hides dirt better.
- Looks purposeful and functional. For example, military aircraft are silver.
- Nice contrast with black undercarriage and black bands on front, side, and rear.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!
Matt
