Dealer said don't charge even after Recall 10312 for XC90 T8

My wife recently took her XC90 in for the Battery Recall R10312. They just did the software upgrade but as she was leaving they mentioned to still not charge the car as Volvo is still figuring out what they want to do with this issue.

The upgrade was just to monitor the batteries. Has anyone else had this recall done and heard the same thing? Pretty frustrating if we are still unable to charge with no time frame on an update.

I don't see anything in the bulletin saying that. Yes, the recall monitors the batteries, but the problem was that nothing was monitoring them before to see if there was a short. Once the update is done you should be good from my understanding. I'd call the dealer up and ask for clarification.

That is unless they detected an issue with your batteries already and perhaps are waiting for a new battery for yours if it failed?

Did the additional announcement say to continue not to charge or just there was a stop sale? Would suck if they still recommend not charging after the recall. I have my appointment in 2 weeks to get it done.

Hi,
I live in France and I have just had it done on my MY20 XC90 and effectively the 10312 recall works in two phases depending on the result of the first phase.

Firstly they run a diagnostic with VIDA to qualify the state of each battery module, and then if one or more modules is/are flagged as defective they need to go for a complete replacement of the module in a second time.

So if you already have another appointment I would say that they flagged at least one module as defective and want to replace it, and yes they would recommend you to avoid pluging the car until the full procedure has been done because the software update in itself is not enough.

Hi, Effectively the regenerative brake has felt different after the recall operation was made. But worse than that another battery pack that was considered ok firstly has failed afterwards so now I don't have any electric traction until they receive a replacement one. Regarding the regen I suspect that the software upgrade has an effect onto it. Best regards
