I have used a copper Exhaust manifold gasket on my other turbo car and I love it.
As for a headgasket.... it is great at sealing because of how soft it is, but I have also heard of it blowing just as easy.
Unless you are going to run very high cylinder pressures, I would switch to a MLS with a surfaced head and block.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't do it. The open deck design of the block requires a specific crush from the head gasket. Also, the block is aluminum and the bores are steel. A third metal in there isn't going to help.

I agree 100% with TOM. A copper head gasket on anything besides a dedicated race car is not good. Their main advantage is they're "re-usable", not that they seal so well.

TOM - I didn't know the Volvo used an open deck design. Some of the WORST ENGINES ever made used open deck design. I'm specifically thinking of the 8.2L Fuel Pincher GM V8 diesel. All the performance of a 366 CID BB Chevy truck engine, about the same fuel economy, and one-tenth the life expectancy!

Race cars that are also intended to be broken down and rebuilt numerous times. I wouldnt recommend it for longevity.

For how little blown head gaskets I have seen on this engine I wouldnt be overly concerned.

Oil Only - Not on a Water Cooled Alu. Engine

I've made one Myself - and Used it on a Motorcycle - ran around 10:9 Compression - gained .030 vs stock gasket . Held up fine , but there was - No Water Involved - just Oil . ( :D )

Another option is the S60R/V70R Head Gasket. It is a multi-layer sealing (MLS) gasket.
