so my review of this thread and similar ones is that D3ggy nailed his brake caliper paint project and matched the polestar gold but doesn’t have a “code” or a color we can use to get a similar result to him. I am trying to paint my back brakes to match the polestar gold and would like a suggestion for trying to do this. I swapped out my front calipers for the gold polestar calipers and just want my original back calipers to be close.
Got the paint samples for G2 yellow and gold. I’m trying to paint my back brake calipers to match the new front polestar calipers. Just use their yellow? Mix the two together? Do something else? Bail on it all together.

See the yellow and good samples of the G2 paint. Should I mix them, just go with yellow, use something else, or bail all together?

I can confirm that the Custom Color Ford School Bus Yellow from G2 caliper paint is a perfect match for Polestar yellow. I bought the polestar front calipers and paint the back calipers to match

Greg, I ended up using the S60/V60 Polestar brakes… are they the same Gold color? I am hoping to use your G2 paint recommendation to match the rears like you did. [emoji41]

Any chance I can see a more closeup pic of your front caliper to verify we have the same Polestar Gold color? [emoji41]

As someone who has painted many cars and boats over decades I can tell you that the idea of a paint from one manufacturer matching the paint from another is nonexistent. In other words the factory Polestar yellow and the ford school bus yellow will not match. If I had the Polestar front caliper and wanted to paint the rears to match I would try and find the Volvo paint code, failing that you would need to go to an automotive paint store that has a spectrometer to analyze the Polestar color…….even then, the human eye can pick shade variations to an unerring degree. I did my calipers with G2 epoxy and I am happy with them. Audi A8 4.0 pictured.

And here is my 2017 S90 with G2 Rebel blue calipers.

Great work with the G2 paint!
Regarding paint matching the Polestar brakes… of course it’s not an exact match. However, when comparing the large front brakes to the much smaller back brakes (which are not upgraded with the Polestar trim but are simply painted), my opinion is simply painting the original back brakes is absolutely good enough. The alternative is to purchase the Polestar rear calipers which are not in any way an upgrade and are somewhat expensive compared to just buying paint. Furthermore, your eye needs to traverse the entire wheelbase of your Volvo to discern any subtle mismatch. I submit that the G2 Ford School Bus paint is good enough for most people when they are painting their original back calipers to match their upgraded front Polestar calipers. I will try to send some “6 months later” pictures today after the sun comes out.

Would love to see that, good to know there is a close match. I was up in the air about painting my V90 calipers. I bought the rebel blue G2. Black car, should look good, I haven’t had time to do it yet.

Thanks for the tip on Ford School Bus Yellow! I've got a kit coming for my V90, will need to paint the rears to match.

WunderWagen, sadly the V60 and XC60 PE caliper colors are different, Brembo and Akebono couldn't decide on a common color I guess. V60 Brembos are more gold-ish and have metallic flake, XC60 Akebonos are more of a plain yellow and much subtler flake.
I also recall seeing threads here of some V60 PE owners complaining that their rear calipers were more yellow and didn't actually match their gold Brembo front calipers, that seems to line up with the yellow-er color of the XC60 akebonos, hence why the Ford paint matches these, but will definitely not match the V60 PE gold-ish brembos. Guess volvo must have different rear calipers painted up for the golden Brembos, unless all the V60 PE have unmatching yellow rear calipers.

Yep, noticed that as well... which is why the Ford School Bus Yellow would not work for me. Brembo calls it Bright Copper Gold but there are other manufacturers like Nissan on the GTR that have Brembo brakes in Gold. Hoping some of their color matching will work for me. 🙏

Good point on the differences in yellow polestar brakes. Crazy that Volvo/Polestar used different manufacturers for the SUV/Polestar 1 versus car/Polestar 2 brakes.

The question is, do you all just go with the most obnoxious and large Polestar 1 Akebono brake? Would it even fit in a wheel smaller that a 21 inch?

Good luck and keep us posted. Let me change my experience…. The G2 Ford School bus yellow matches the AKEBONO Polestar front brake caliper used on the Polesrar 1 and the Polestar trim of the Volvo XC 60. I didn’t notice Brembo did their own yellow for the sedan/wagon polestar1 vehicles.

Just arrived, based on the CTS-V 6 piston brembos, with a radial mount adapter, and 380mm rotors.
I requested a closer color match to the XC60 PE akebonos, but they're more of a honest yellow like Porsche calipers, so I don't think the school bus yellow g2 kit will match for the rears anymore, maybe the standard yellow kit instead.
My CTS-V oem yellow calipers also have a orangier shade of yellow compared to these.
