I had an S60 T5 as a loaner while my XC60 was in for warranty work and experienced much of what you're describing. I'm assuming the transmission on the T5 is the same as on the T6, so any difference is solely attributable to the engine. I must say, the T6 engine (same as in the XC60), is unbelievably better than the T5. In particular, I found the the T5 to be 'numbing' and unresponsive. The low-end torque just isn't there - floor it from a dead stop and it takes 3 seconds for the engine to figure out what's going on.

Something must have been seriously wrong with the T5 you were driving or you were just mashing the gas pedal, while the car was stopped and you thought it took 3 seconds to get going (when, in reality, it takes a lot less than that).

T5 will have slightly more turbo lag (being a HPT engine) when compared to the T6 (a LPT engine) but it does not take 3 seconds to get boost.

The T5 in normal Drive Mode, does not exactly take off like a batoutahell, but it gets the job done fine. In Sport Mode, yes, from a dead stop it can fly out of the gates, with a typically loud inline 5 sound. In Drive Mode, the stand-still accelaration does take a moment to really get going. It is much more responsive accelarating when the car is already moving at 30+ mph.

According to IPD USA, the 2007 S60R 6 speed auto is the same one that's being used in the 2012 S60. How good or bad was the automatic in the R? Because right now, the automatic in the S60 is frustrating me with it's slow shifts..

So I'm at 40Km/h and I needed to merge to the right lane, but the guy behind me in the right lane was going probably 60Km/h so I gave it some throttle and the computer was just like "You sure you want to do that? Ok! Lehgo!!!! 4000RPM!" That must've been a 3 second decision by the computer. Sucks.

Also noticed that radio presets past on 4 and above, Sensus loses the radio preset thing so if I was to change stations, I have to press << or >> twice.

Also noticed some pretty bad jerks today just before coming to a stop. It's getting annoying and since no one else seems to be complaining, I think it's just happening to me....

I like to read about nitpicky probs like this. Many potential owners are interested in this kind of info. I'd love to know this sort of thing with any sort of car I buy. Thanks for sharing.

I think many automatics are like that but don't think a dual clutch will solve this problem. I'd have to say the DSG in my previous VW was worse especially when accelerating after a turn, it was always in a gear too high and you would have press the accelerator quite a ways down to get it to downshift but then you had too much power. This is where learning software would come in handy. Honestly I don't notice the delay as you describe. Perhaps my driving habits are a bit more tame.

I do notice that little jerk when coming to a slow stop. Probably a 2nd to 1st shift. It actually feels a little like the guy behind me nudging my bumper. Doesn't really bother me.

Did you get the Sensus update? That might fix your radio preset issue. I experienced the same thing only with preset 8 but have not noticed this issue, so far, after my sensus update last week. Actually, this issue was what I complained about to get the update :)

Well all the automatic vehicles I've driven for lengthy periods of time shift right when I want them to. This includes the Infiniti G37S with 5 speed auto, BMW E39 528 with 5 speed auto, and our Volvo S70 with 5 speed auto. There is none of this delay when changing gears with either upshifts or downshifts.

Good to know I'm not the only one experiencing that jerk.

Nope not yet. I'm gonna get it updated next week hopefully. Maybe I'll file a complaint with the dealer as well because I'm being so nitpicky. I guess this is why some people don't like to buy first year cars. They have too many problems that don't get sorted out until the second year.

After over 11 000km, there's a couple things that have been brought to my attention aside from what I have mentioned before. I will copy and paste some of it and it will be fragmented sentences:

I went to the car wash today (touch free) and my mom and sister got a lovely dose of water from the car wash through the sun roof. After getting out, I looked at indeed there's a leak to the right side where the plastics are. I'd take a picture but too lazy right now

Anyone else got this problem? I'm bringing it to Volvo Villa tomorrow after Cynthia at Volvo of Unionville pretty much said, "The sunroof is designed to block wind, not water. Sorry."
I got a low coolant warning when the temperature started to drop. Added some Motomaster pre-mixed coolant to the reservoir (at least I think I did). I couldn't find the low line so I guessed. I hope I added to the right place as the coolant light didn't come on again after.

There was a couple times where I had a 90lb passenger in the front passenger seat, and the airbag was turned of. Not sure why...

I hate how the electronic brake does not lock up the rear wheels and let you drift. See Can't "Drift" the S60 :(.

I got a leaky sunroof. Was at the Petro Canada touchless car wash yesterday on Warden and Steeles and it was dripping. Dealer used their own pressure washer and found no problems. At least Volvo Villa tried to do something about it. Volvo of Unionville pretty much gave my mom a "The sunroof is designed to block wind, not water. Sorry" answer. The service adviser at Volvo Villa told me to keep an eye out for it and avoid high pressure touchless car wash. Of all the new and old cars my family, extended family and friends owns, this is the first to have a leaky sunroof  Another reason why we generally stay away from first MY cars.

Also got the B-pillar rattle fixed. It was caused by a loose trim. Hope this helps all S60 owners, assuming you still read this.

Was playing with Geartronic today in stop and go traffic and the shifts are pretty slow. There must be a second delay when I request a shift and waiting for the shift to actually happen. But then it seems that all family/luxury automatics with a manumatic modes are like that.
My 2012 S60 T5 in manumatic is nearly instantaneous in it's shifts. 100 miles on the car.
