Hello, all. I am re-gluing my detached headliner clips and have a question. There are two types of clips - thick and thin. How are those clips distributed on the FRONT headliner? I know that, on the REAR headliner, the 4 thick clips are placed along the rear edge (closest to the trunk) and the 4 thin clips are placed along the front edge, with all 8 clip's open ends facing the center of the rear headliner section. Thank you.

Thanks, Facusan! I had followed those specific instructions per the attachment you gave, but it appeared to only show the anchor clip orientation for the back panel. Didn't know if the front was the same. One of the "experts" at a paid Volvo help site told me that, on the front panel section, the two thicker anchor clips went at the ends of each edge with the thinner clips in the middle. Yet another told me it was the reverse of the rear, so now I have seen three different opinions!

It appears that your configuration must have worked out well for you since it is still holding, so that is what I will shoot for unless anyone else has any info to share. Thanks again!

The clips should be still attached to the roof and you'll see how they are distributed on the headliner. That's what I did with mine. I just glued them back where they were.

Y'all don't want to know what I did with mine :)
Let's just say, I hope I never have to remove the headliner...ever.

J-B Weld Plastic Bonder Black... Amazon.com: J-B Weld Plastic Bonder Black 25ml Syringe - 2 Pack (50139-2), 25 ml - 2 Pack : Industrial & Scientific

I also got a set of these to help get the fasteners out of the roof without destroying them.

Wetado Trim Removal Tool, Car... Amazon.com

The tool with the little ball fulcrum worked perfectly.
I went with the original JBWeld after reading some reviews on the Plastic variant. I can't imagine anything is guaranteed in this Texas heat of WAY over 100F every day for two months!!! I surely look for shaded parking; but it's not always available! Dark Caspian Blue paint color doesn't help, I reckon ;)

I hope you have great, long-lasting results! I also bought the panel-removing tool kit; but haven't actually used it yet.

Thank you, everyone! I now have the same problem with the rear panel dropping. When I opened the top the other day, there was a loud noise, the back panel dropped, and the front panel bent up and clips tore off. It happened so fast. I think it’s because I had the top “up“ for a couple of months without putting the top down. I think the seals stuck to each other and then bad things happened. I am a little nervous about fixing this myself, but I will do it. The question I have is… How do I get the rear panel off to replace the clips and to replace a couple of clips on the top inside of the car? Thanks so much!

Well, others have posted more refined techniques; but I'm good with "goop"ing the fasteners in place and clamping them until cured. I've not tried to remove an entire panel and that's probably going to stay that way.
Good luck! Keep searching here and on YouTube for "tutorials" ...I have stumbled across some that aren't great; but offer some insight.
