brake hose

Need to replace the brake lines in the 2007 XC70. The front right rubber (OEM?) hose failed and looks as though it was rubbing on the strut. there is a crease in the front left as well. Is there an advantage of replacing with the SS braided hoses compared to the rubber hoses? Also, is there any way to mitigate the potential "rubbing" that occurred? Thanks

yeah when you install new ones, route them correctly. look at some pics online. do it right. stainless steel lines can firm up the peddle feel (but i think its just because they're new lines) but maybe in your case its better because the metal will handle whatever you are doing to those poor lines.

After purchasing the car two years ago, we had a full brake job done. Given the time of failure, I am assuming the brake hoses were not replaced.

I've bee looking online for a picture of the proper routing of the hoses. For them to be susceptible to rubbing against the strut, I do not believe they were routed properly during the brake job. I am not sure what I could be doing to cause the rubbing and hose failure being this is basically a daily driver/commuter. thanks
