Best t5 inlet manifold upgrade

I'm interested in finding out which inlet manifold is the best for the T5/ST 225 (they have the same engine). Right now I'm leaning towards pumaspeed because it looks almost stock and yet claims to have a balanced flow pattern, but it also seems that the boxer designs (elevate/Auto Specialist) would increase low-mid range power due to the increased plenum size for immediate on-demand supply. Another consideration is that I will be keeping the stock air box so whichever inlet needs to fit. Thoughts?

Pumaspeed, is that the same as Anembo? I know a few people with this manifold and they love it.
Not sure if I'm sold on the fact that it's a two piece design, but it looks cool!

I've seen the AS plenum end up on a few T5s as well, which people like. However, this will not fit with the stock airbox and the inlet opening is ~67mm, so not a good matching with the Porsche throttle body or the stock throttle body.

I like my Elevate unit, but again... This was purchased before there were a lot of known options. It's a definite improvement, can't claim if it's the best improvement on the market though. But you can purchase the Elevate unit with no branding, so it looks stock. You could even have it refinished in textured black so California inspections probably wouldn't notice unless they saw two T5s back to back.

It appears as if your hunt for a quality Stage 1 tune has turned into a quest for all the upgrades. ;)

I've been leaning toward AS, the depressed GBP makes shopping in the UK more fun. The inlet diameter is a non-issue for the Porsche TB: break out the die grinder.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find legitimate flow numbers from any manufacturer. Then again, I haven't looked especially hard on the Focus ST/RS forums.

Good point about the UK. Maybe I should jump on the pumaspeed inlet - at 400 USD, that's a screaming deal. And hey, I'm just laying the framework for the stage 1 tune. :) Starting with the bolt-ons first and working my way to the tune. I should be getting my new intercooler tonight (theh XC60 IC) and then the next project is to fab up a new 2.5" turbo hardpipe to match the intercooler inlet - assuming the inlet is 2.5" that is. Though, the routing gets tricky with AWD. I'm also fighting to resolve some minor residual resonation with the new catback. considering micro post-muffler resonators at this point; or, exhaust dampers in my quest to get performance and oem sound. Next step is dynomatting the trunk area to see if that solves it.

Make Sure You get the Puma - generation number II with the Larger Openings

Hoping to see one up close soon .. to do a Port Match . . to Lower ..

I guess one could extrapolate that if it flows "6% over competitive at 7k rpm" that it would flow +6% more than competition at lower rpm, but maybe not. It seems the smaller plenum would have a better high rpm flow, but possibly a worse low speed flow over the larger plenums. I mean, all the options are probably better than oem all the way round the rpm ranges.

Definitely following. While I do appreciate the separatability of the Anembo, it's not worth the $1600 I saw it for.

Elevate is what $700

The PumaSpeed one is a steal of a deal.

Yup, you can get one in raw alloy without a logo. For stealth/CA smog, it's perfect.
And yeah, I wish someone would pony up and at least throw some data at us concerning the inlets. Best data we got is Elevate. Though, that inlet appears to be a rebadged Mountune St225 inlet. Or maybe it's vica versa, not sure.

Wrinkled black is sexy - match my snabb turbo pipe. I would buy this today if I hadn't bought a used Elevate upper and lower manifold already.

The problem is that there are a bunch of seams, including the ring around around the oil cap, that are rubber. I had a few painted engine covers that I put in my S40, they were all fine for about 6 months and then they started cracking along those rubber seams.

Has anyone attempted to dye it? There's a place in Denver that dyes plastics and urethanes in a tank

Manifolds are neither, they're metal.

Ha! Yeah, but I think it's fair to say that you can tell if there's an improvement by SOP. If you can't tell there's a difference, the improvement probably wasn't a significant performance increase. I expect that a lot of the IC related stuff I plan on doing won't cause a noticeable improvement until there's a tune (increased boost); or, the effects will be only be noticeable when paired with an inlet change and intake pipe, etc etc.

Besides stage 0 prep, the only mods I've made are a custom 2.5" mandrel bent catback (quiet) system. Via SOP, that change has increased the mid - upper power band fairly significantly (maybe 10%). More than I thought it would have, actually. I've done lots of exhaust modification in the past and this is probably the most significant change I've experienced. Maybe because it's a turbo car, I'm not sure, but it's an encouraging beginning to my P1's mods. I'm aiming for around 300bhp after catback, pumaspeed inlet, snabb intake pipe, custom 2.5" IC hardpiping, larger Volvo FMIC, and elevate tune. Realistic?

At present, I can't go beyond stage 1 due to the dp and CA emissions requirements - there isn't a CARB approved high flow cat available (yet), but I'm hoping that soon there will be. In general, I like to ballpark improvements by relatively realistic percentages, starting with the 220hp t5 engine - say 8% for the catback (237hp) - aftermarket manufacturers say 10% is average, another 8% for the inlet and intake pipe and accompanying IC upgrades (255hp) - pumaspeed claims 10% increase for inlet alone, and then +40hp for the stage 1 (295hp). If that's not too far off, I will be a happy happy camper.

I think You'd have to have all the Pcs. to Full Effect .. and Yet anyone of those Not Matched Up and U Loose a Lot . .

LOL Die Grinder & $50.00 Bucks in Tools , Compressor , Die Grinder another $300.00 all Min..

Then better be able to Smooth all that out Nicely
