It's poll season, so just wondering, what's your favourite current Volvo engine at the moment?
I've heard the 2.5T is simply superb and apparently quite a bit better than the 2.4T which I found to be a nice engine too. Any major differences between the two?
From what I can gather, the 2.5T is the pick of the range, torque anywhere you want it, next to no lag, excellent performance and similar fuel consumption to the 2.4T. How's the refinement? Does the FWD version feel noticeably faster than the AWD car?
I enjoyed the T6, I thought it sounded great and had the performance to match.
From what I hear, despite the great torque characteristics, the R seems to suffer from a bit of lag, thanks to the huge turbo it employs and the fact it couldn't have a twin turbo due to limited underbonnet space.
D5 is supposed to be great and it's Volvo's first car attempt at a diesel engine.
The 4 cylinder motors seem a bit ordinary and boring compared to the 5 cylinders, but the T4 packs a punch. I drove a 2.0T (4 cyl), but I found the 2.4 20V preferable.
If you wanted to vote for the 1.6 16V, 1.8 16V or 1.8 GDi, sorry, there's only space for 10 engines
So, what's your opinion?
Cheers,
Justin
