Purchased this today. It’ll be for my 15 year old son when he turns 16 in June of 25’

its needy but the body and interior is 8/10.

I’ll post the saga here, lol

For anyone who finds this, a bit of bearing grease to hold the round metal crush gaskets in the manifolds and to hold the flat paper washers to the down pipe side.

Other nice observation, pretty sure the primary cats (manifold) are aftermarket as well….

Well, waiting for the funds to replace the manifold catalytic converters, cetacean did not help, lol. Driving it once a week or so in the mean time.

All exhaust components have been ordered. A few weeks and hopefully have an inspected, DTC free car!

Exhaust from the manifolds back has now all been replaced with Walker SS components.

It was leaking slightly from behind the resonator and in front of the muffler.

Hopefully by next weekend the manifolds will be here and installed.

thanks, surprisingly no. It almost went to easy, leaving me suspicious on how the manifolds will go, lol

#81 ·
Almost done, drivers side is in, passenger side is in and connected to the down pipe, just have to bolt it to the engine.

the catalyst in the passenger side old manifold is completely destroyed and balled up, so this was needed. I think they are Davico manifolds, stamped 2020.

some notes, pull, the heat shield will come out. The manifolds come out and go in completely upside down, there is enough room with the heat shield out that they can spin.

Very well could have been, especially when the converters are the cheapest available.

it runs noticeably better, doesn’t stink and mpg improved by about 1 already.

#86 ·
they definitely have their place, I don’t think the 3.2 is that place though, lol. I would have loved $160 converters!

New battery installed today. 3 of 6 new coil packs, replacing the $18 ones I initially installed.

#88 ·
All 6 coil packs replaced with the Hella ones from FCP.

car was tinted, so much nicer to drive.

new battery installed, other one wasn’t failing but was a bit weak. It was from 2017.

Chasing the cam sensor codes now, so far all sensors and solenoids have power with the key on, o swapped the two top of cam cover short silver solenoids, no change. Next is a bench test.

I’m 200 miles until 1000 miles on the restore and protect oil, and then I’ll change it again.

yesterday I got the p001200 cam over retarded bank one, and the p001100 cam over advanced bank 1…..any insight is appreciated.

That's strange, having one retarded and one advanced. Hoping it's not guides or a chain. Typically don't hear much about the timing chain on these engines. Have you pulled the cam solenoids to see if they appear to be caked with sludge?

exceptionally odd on the same cam, at the same time! Lol

all fixed! Car was inspected today!

pulled the cam position solenoid (tall one, left/drivers side and bench tested it. Functions as it should, remembered I had the old one, bench tested that one after a heavy cleaning and it functioned as well. Started comparing the two and observed that everything lined up, however the holes on the new one were consistent 1mm or so smaller. Installed the old one and the light has stayed out for about 150 miles.
I’m gonna do a wrap up thread for cost and everything that was done to go from ghetto luxury to properly running.

Finally get to do some “fun” stuff, deep interior detail, dash cam, hitch, 4 pole flat wiring and tint installed.

he has a few lawn mowing customers, so he’ll be able to pull his small trailer with it.
