Autel Maxiscan ms300 link error?

Hey all, my 2007 S60R is giving me a check engine light with no reduced performance or anything to tell me something severe is wrong. I have an autel ms300 scanner but for some reason I am getting a link error. Is there ANY reason I should not be able to access this car or is this something I need to further diagnose via the dealership/autozone. It is out of warranty so any cost-saving answer is always better!

Wondering if my unit doesn't have special coding for the S60R or something, but considering my same year S80 is read perfectly, I am not sure what the heck is going on...

Thanks,

Kevin

Also, drafted and email to Autel:

Greetings,

I have your MS300 unit and I am trying to diagnose a CEL on my 2007 Volvo S60. It seems as though many people have had bad luck with the unit connecting to the Volvo CAN OBD2 port and seeing/clearing codes.

Examples:

Does Volvo have some proprietary lock on the ECU?

Any advice in getting the unit to work or shall I try to find another unit to read the code?

Yes sir. Confirmed working with andriod.
If you have an iPhone, it is a little different to set up.
There is also a free version of torque that I am using and it is fine to pull codes, plus extras!

I can confirm that Torque on Android works with my 04, but only partly. It'll read codes and let you reset the CELs but won't give you the real troubleshooting info you need to solve it. VIDA/DICE is the way to go if you really want to know what's wrong, down to the component. Plus you can many times test that component and see exploded parts diagrams. Torque with a OBD2-BT adapter is a good first tool to keep in your car but I still use my VIDA to get the extended details.

So it will give me like a P0102 or something like that so I can decipher what systems are wrong like my MS300? I have VIDA coming from China but it takes 3 weeks to get here!

I am on android. Thanks guys I appreciate it. Bummed that the unit I own doesn't work. Inconvenient for sure.

Will take to autozone for a read/clear and buy the bluetooth one for future use.

Thanks again.
