Has anyone had any joy signing up their Volvo to the AT&T data plan?

I have been trying to register via the dedicated website: http://att.com/volvo but it won't accept by VIN. After spending considerable time with Customer Service it turns out there are teething issue since AT&T took full responsibility for the data service from Dec 6. It appears there is no ETA and all owners can do is try to register on the website each day to see if it works which is so frustrating.

I need AT&T to activate the free trial (3GB or 6mos whichever comes first) to be able to stream music. I can download apps and browse stations on TuneIn but cannot stream any music until it is fully activated by AT&T. Of course I can tether my phone in the meantime.

Mine is a 2017 too - only picked it up last week. Did you register soon after buying or wait a while? I did call Volvo with my sim card number and they updated my profile and told me to try again in a few days so will see.

You might have been caught between hops. I had a 2017, but already had it when ATT pulled the plug and disconnected everyone. I think that Volvo had already sent them all of the VINs of already-delivered cars. So I had no issues once we figured out what had happened and what we had to do to get reconnected.

Your car didn't get its VIN until after all this had happened, so ATT probably didn't get your VIN for some reason. Hopefully Volvo will do as promised and your issue will be resolved soon, and hopefully all the newer cars will have their information forwarded to ATT automatically and signed up before delivery.

Signed up but have CRAZY LARGE data usage issues

I was able to sign up on line, but could only choose "Spanish" as my preferred correspondence language. So now I get emails regarding the service in Spanish.

What is bugging me is what my data usage looks like now. I only had used 8 Gb in the entire time that I had the complimentary service (which was extended on my 2015.5 XC60 because they hadn't figured out how to work with AT&T yet) of 20 months. I signed up for 10 Gb for one month, and in 36 hours, I had apparently used 750Mb! I have not been doing anything different from my end. I use my iphone on the wifi server to check emails and look at CNN, just like i did before.

I contacted AT&T and they said, yes, you are using a lot of data. But it doesn't make sense to me. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

Did you update any apps or did Sensus update any apps or map data? Is your wifi turned on, is it password protected? could someone else be hopping on the wifi?

interesting, after seeing this I logged on and it showed that I've used 2.81GB since Dec 11? That seems pretty high, my wifi is password protected and I don't stream from it everyday. Will keep an eye out to see what it's like month to month.

I fortunately had no issues registering on the ATT/Volvo site. I did have issues connecting to Pandora after activating, so I uninstalled Pandora and downloaded again, and now it works.
However, I think it sucks that you have to be a Premium member in order to use Spotify. Not so sure that I'll be renewing my subscription after the 6 month trial. I'll probably just use CarPlay or connect via Bluetooth afterwards. Plus, I will get SiriusXM subscription after the 6 month trial with the very basic package that has the stations that we need for around $50 / year. With SiriusXM, will not need to worry about dead zones in coverage when on a road trip or taking trips across the border to BC, Canada.

Question does the WiFi stay active after the car is shut off so if you have a dash cam connected to the internet it'll still maintain that connection

Joy? It's been a nightmare. What a Craptastic and Ill-Planned Idea from Volvo by turning the service into a paid subscription. I signed up a few days after the Dec 6 Launch and have had countless problems.

Difficulty acquiring a signal. Sometimes all I'll get is a yellow hourglass / wheel for my entire journey.
There have been times that the service has been completely down.

And worst of all, AT&T won't admit fault with their service. Try calling their Connected Car support line, and they'll immediately transfer you to Volvo Customer Service. As if Volvo is now an ISP providing the internet. I've tried TWICE now to get a Supervisor at AT&T and my complaints end up on Volvo's Customer Service.

Nice Work Volvo. Should have kept it a free service. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one experiencing these difficulties. When it was free, I couldn't complain. Now that I'm paying, having the service work beyond 60% of the time would be nice....

What if you are ATT wireless customer already? What does that $10.00/month get you? Does it use data off you're current plan? I have my phone (ATT, with Unlimited data, don't ask how, but I still have the unlimited data), and my wife's ATT phone with a data cap on my plan (I forgot what her data cap is). So how does this work?

Can't start my free trial because ATT doesn't recognize my VIN... spent over 2 hours trying to fix this myself, with the dealership and now with ATT customer service just to find out there is "something wrong with my vehicle's VIN" No clue when Volvo will be contacting me, but this is not how I wanted to start off car #2.

Exactly the same issue I have. Its worth getting the AT&T SIM card number if you don't have it already. The SIM is located on the right side of the trunk under the spare wheel cover - the manual will show you where. You should provide that to Volvo customer service to make sure its linked to your VIN on their end. They somehow pass this information on to AT&T and told me it takes up to 2 business days but after 3 days I still have the issue of not being able to register the SIM.

In the meantime I logged a BBB complaint with AT&T and their executive office called me to tell me they are looking into this to find out what the issue is.

My complimentary AT&T service is still working fine - for whatever reason. I went to the Volvo site when I first got the later (no emails) - had hard time trying to even find where or what to do. (It is only through this forum that I've figured that out.)

In any event - until it dies I'm just leaving things as-is.

Try this one: https://myvehicle.att.com/#/volvo/l...local%7Catt_launch_expiration%7Cdec2016&dtm_em=16390cc1ce0b86ea463e014905ba3263

Otherwise, check out this thread for background: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...omplimentary-Sensus-Connect-trial-that-will-soon-expire/page10&highlight=Expire

There have been issues with the web address or the site. I was never successful using an iOS device. Ended up using a PC/Windows with my dealer who got me set up since I was there for my 10K service.

I would wait. The free data is time bound 6 months or 3GB whatever comes first. You probably won't be able to register as Volvo need to register the SIM card to the VIN which won't happen until you have the vehicle.

I have been having issues with this too. I finally called AT&T today who told me that my SIM # was not registered to my VIN. So I had to call Volvo and they fixed it. They had to update the SIM card # connected to my VIN. They said I should be able to register in 2 business days.

My car's connection has expired, however, after the yearly maintenance and a software update (finally updated from 2015's Nov main update!! so that the Sensus won't crash with the in car SIM activated). I activated the SIM function in car (Not ATT website activation), without data subscription, I tested the weather, here search, volvo ID Apps, they all seem to work, and the real time traffics still can be updated through the SIM as well. It looks like the data subscription mainly targets the music Apps streaming...

From what Yannis had mentioned on here, yes, the low data apps will continue to work; It's basically the music apps that use large amounts of data that require renewal of the plan as well as creating a hotspot within the vehicle.

It is very nice the low data apps work without the subscription. I was thinking that the agreement between ATT and Volvo allowed this to happen. But tanXC90's statement about using a non-ATT sim card without a data subscription almost makes it seem like the low data apps use the VOC modem instead of the other modem with an ATT sim initially.

I'm in Canada, but the AT&T registration process is the same (I believe the network is Rogers here, but the service is still branded AT&T). No success getting it to work yet. Online registration produced the same error and instructions to call them. I called, gave them the SIM card number, received an email a couple of days later asking for the SIM card number(!), and several more days later it is still not working.
