Anyone take a road trip in their S40?

I'm asking because I'm a stickler for seats, and I'm wondering how the S40's seats hold up over a long drive, i.e. 4 hours plus of seat time. I tend to drive long distances, and my commute right now is 100/day, and I would gladly give up a measure of sport, a bit of 0-60 time, and/or an extra $1-2K in order to arrive at my destination and not be exhausted or irritable because of poor seats.
So far for me, my favorite are the sports seats on the current 3-series. The adjustable-length thigh bolster aids comfort tremendously. Yeah, I know, the E46 is overpriced, but those seats are just about perfect and almost make the high price worth it. My least favorite are the Lexuses (Lexi?) I've had the (mis)fortune of driving long distance- the IS300 gave me leg spasms and the old ES300 left me exhausted after only a few hours behind the wheel. Anyone able to knowledgeably compare the S's seats to any of those?
Also, how's the car's lumbar support?

I can't give you an answer on your main question, but according to Alan Partridge on BBC2 (UK) it is pronounced 'Lexi'

. Those of you living in the UK will appreciate the wink

I neglected to mention that I used to spend a lot of seat time in a friend's old S70, and it had very comfortable long-haul seats. It's nice to know that Volvo hasn't scrimped on their entry level vehicle as far as seating goes.

As far as being spoiled with comfy (or in the case of Lexus, uncomfy) seats goes, well, I make a point to drive friends' cars as much as possible.

I recently drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and have never been more confortable on a car ride. I didn't even have to take my wallet out of my back pocket. To quote my girlfriend, who rode shotgun, "These are the most comfortable seats ever!" Then she fell asleep.

i agree with you about lexus seats. I drive an 850 wagon and the seats are extremely comfortable. When I have driven my father's lexus es300 (2002 so after the redesign), the seat is really uncomfortable after an hour or so. Its i guess not firm enough not enough thigh support. My mom's honda is also not nearly as comfortable also. Both seats are too flat. Volvo seats really are some of the best.
