Hi.

A shop here in Sweden are having a huge sale right now. One of the items on sale is a full set of Koni FSD shock absorbers. At about $650 including shipping, I find it to be quite a bargain.

Have anyone installed these shocks on a 2007+ S80? Hassle-free to install? Working well?

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated :) Couldn't find a thread on the forums discussing any Koni shocks on the S80.

Just thought I'd report back. I did purchase them and they've been laying around waiting for the end of winter :)

I installed them yesterday together with a set of lowering springs from H&R.

Installation went well, everything was bolt on. Just transferred some minor parts from the OEM shocks to the new Koni's.

First impression is that the setup works very well. It's smoother on the road than I was expecting, but it provides great cornering abilities. I will report back in a few months or so when I've got some milage in them :)

I just recently discovered that these were an option. I believe they only recently came to market. Though I love my FourC, sometimes I wish I could use the normal type of shocks.

I have the 4c suspension as well, and have wondered if when one of the 4C shocks fail, if it would be possible to replace the 4C's with the FSD. I drive my S80 set in sport 90% of the time anyway. I would think that there would have to be some way to override the error code for a missing or defective 4c, or send a dummy signal to the computer to make it think the 4cs were still there and working. The other possible complication might be if the computer needs the actual 4c status as feedback to work with the DSC etc. on the fly, which may affect other variables. You can but a set of the FSD's for just a little more than one of the 4c's. Makes you think.

On the other hand, if I had any other suspension than the 4c on the S80, hands down the FSD's with the IPD or Dynamic package sway bars would be the hot ticket to great handling.

One other question would be whether the FSD's were interchangeable with any of the other shared platform cars, say the XC60 or V70.

It's the same part number for S80II, V70II and S60II. XC60 uses another part number.

But, when choosing car in the Koni Finder it says that 4C is excluded.
Great.

I wonder though if the 4C can be disabled.

I think for those without the 4C, the Koni FSD's paired with the sway bars from the Sport/Dynamic package would be a great suspension for these cars.

In fact, a Polestar-tuned T6 with this suspension combination would be a great car and much easier to find than the V8 cars.

Hmmm...I've been away from the forum for a while and thought that by now they would have brought the Polestar option to NA since its offered in Europe. I even wrote Polestar in another thread to try to find out if they had plans to bring it here. Never got any response; I guess it wasn't economically viable as with some of the other models to certify...

They have been great, really great.

The FSD's probably saved my right front wheel when I ran over some debris a car in front of me dropped last summer.

I don't have anything negative to say about them really :) I have put around 5000km on the car since they got installed and they still feel as good as when they were new.

I know this is an older post but I'll revive it I guess.

Pulchi, what I'm curious about is how the ride quality has been since the Koni's compared to the OE shocks. I have an 04 XC70 with about 114k miles which I've had since September (about 5 mos). I just find the ride quality harsh especially on city and rough roads. Been thinking of replacing the shocks all around with Bilsteins or maybe Koni. Thanks.
