Anyone else find the seatbelt releases difficult to use?

This may seem trivial, and I'm not one to complain, but the front seatbelt latches are a real PITA. They work fine as far as latching and retracting, but both my wife and I have lately been cursing the seatbelt release latch. It just seems really difficult to use sometimes. Both driver and passenger seats are the same.

Sometimes, if we catch it just right, the belt releases with a light touch of the latch. Other times it seems we have to struggle with it before it will release the belt. My dealer said they were okay and working normally. He said if there's any tension on the belt, they won't release. So we now have to manipulate the belts to release tension before unlatching. It seems to me that the problem is that the button itself isn't long enough and won't fully depress if not pushed in just right.

Has anyone else had this problem, or is this unique to my car? So far, this is my biggest gripe with my S60, so that's not too bad.

Never a problem here on my 2012. Both me and my wife drive it and have had many different people in the passenger seat. No one had any difficulties.
It's probably your car.
As an experiment, you should have a couple of people, not the dealer but friends, try it.

Seat Belts

I have no problem with the driver's seat belt, but find the passenger's seat belt more problematic. I don't think it's malfunctioning, but it just seems the release sits further down towards the seat cushion. I've had passengers make the same comment. I wonder if this is a safety design. Again, no biggie. I love the car!

Never had any problems for the first 6-8 months, but recently I too have noticed this on the drivers side. Not had any complaints from passengers. On my side, most of the time it works as expected, but occasionally the button will depress part way and feels 'dead', and the belt doesn't release. I don't believe there was tension on the belt in these cases, but I'll pay closer attention next time. When it does happen the button seems to almost get stuck in the partially depressed state, the spring return is insufficient to return the button to its normal place, and it takes more force than normal and a bit of jiggling to get the button further down to release the belt.

The belts release properly - personally I find the seat belt release a little lower than in other cars I've used. I'm always pressing higher than I should be.

Mine doesn't appear to be broken. It works smoothly, and the spring seems fine. It's just that when you depress the release latch, the buckle doesn't release all the time. Sometimes you have to fiddle with it a few times to get it to open. The dealer lubed it and couldn't find a problem. This happens on both front seats, the rear ones work fine. It may just be the low placement of the latch between the seat cushion and the console, which can be awkward especially when wearing a heavy jacket.

Yes I have this problem with front seats in my 2008 v70. Also now on the back seat driver side I can't even pull the belt down to put it on- making that seat unusable for passengers.
