Well, Noble makes one, for their new M600:

"With a Volvo-based 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, the Noble M600 produces an astonishing 650 HP and has a top speed of 225 MPH. Want one? The niche British carmaker'll sell you one for just £200,000 ($331,350). Gallery below.

The Volvo 4.4-liter V8's been fitted with twin Garrett turbos and allows the driver to select three horsepower settings based on need - 450, 550 or 650 HP. Torque tops out at 618 lb-ft. That'll give the M600 a 0-to-60 time of 3.0 seconds."

The engine is the easy part - you need a trans and AWD system that can handle all that power...

Well, if there aren't any kits out there by the time I have my own job and own money and own car - I'd be willing to shell out however much cash to gangstaificate an S80 to develop one.

A supercar-baiting Volvo S80 would be hell of a lot of fun and at the top of my wish list...

I wonder why Noble went with the Volvo V8? Are there some exceptional qualities of the Volvo V8 over other makes? Like an extra strong block or a design that works well with twin turbos? If so, I'll really be sorry I didn't get a V8!

You don't need a backseat in your S80, right? Just take the transaxle from the Noble and make your S80 MR

hmm...when press releases what kind of garret turbos the noble uses...i assume some one will eventually throw some turbos on an s80. Imagine how much boost is being run on that Noble...stock prolly not much.

"hey kids wanna go out for ice cream...ok...hop into the family spacecraft...but we have to make a pit stop to the moon before we can go there!!! haha...

I think a TT V8 with close to 500hp would be just swell for this car

If you're basing this number on the capacity of the transmission, 500Nm is 368 lbs-ft. So 400 horsepower is about the limit, and that if you limit boost in the midrange with a turbo engine.

Is this automatic the GM-Ford transmission, or the Aisin transmission? Ford seems to have hit a similar limit with the new EcoBoost V6.
