Any ex-R owners miss their car?

Well today I was going through my photos and cleaning things up when I came across my R photos. I'll tell you what I really do miss that car. It was quirky and weird and I miss the seats, the stereo, and the sleeper look. Whenever I see and R with a body kit I absolutely LOVE the lines of the car even though it's a 7 year old bodystyle.

Anyone else still on the board who misses their car but still visits this board?

Dude. Debadge that C55 and you have your sleeper back, love that car http://********************/smile/emthup.gif my buddy has a C32 and his dad has a black/black C55, i love the look on STi driver's faces when you smoke them off the line in what they think is a normal C Klasse. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. Same goes for the Volvo though

Yep. Miss the R every once in a while. Haven't posted about it but the lease was up back in the summer.

The 335xi coupe has been pretty good so far. I miss the R's seats on long trips, and it doesn't have the lines I liked about the R.

BUT they are apples and oranges. I obviously wouldn't be in a 335 if I didn't like it. There's a sonic blue I pass by probably twice a week that always brings me back.

Slowrey

Weren't you looking for another R a few months back?

As for me, I don't see myself in this predicament. I plan on driving my R til the wheels fall off (even if I pick something else up in the meantime).

I contemplated getting an 07 black with atacama and navigation but that quickly faded when I couldn't find one!

Are you selling the C55 AMG? Nice car.

Yes, I miss my old R (coming-up on the one year anniversary of my accident) but thankfully I have my wife's R to drive when I want to. I had it out last weekend for a while and that turbo rush (especially in cold weather) puts a smile on my face every time http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Interesting thread!

I don't see myself being able to part with this car for a long time, needing a wagon is what drove me to the VR and unless I suddenly came into money and was able to score a current RS6 Wagon I fail to see what could dethrone the VR... Especially since I have a 6 speed which is important for my fun factor...

Re: (-Pascal)

I don't believe I will ever sell my R. It is more than just a car for me. I will just keep adding more and more cars to the family. Maybe I will need to return to sweden with each new purchase.

I'm planning on keeping my R for 3 maybe 4 more years (that will be a total of 6 or 7 years). By then I will likely be more than ready to part with her!

By that time she'll have about 120,000 miles on the clock. Should be interesting to see how THAT goes!

YES! I'm selling my MINI to get another R, but the MINI hasn't had alot of interest. But yeah i really miss my R, my friend's dad has one and everytime i see it or another R, I dislike the MINI more and more.

flybynight: Is it just me, or is most people on swedespeed terrified of cars with a little mileage on them?
My -04 VR recently passed the 100 000 mile mark and it still looks and feels great.
I drove my -87 740 200k miles before i bought my first V70...

Here in Sweden volvocars in taxiduty often gets driven 375k miles, about 600 000 km before they´re sold , VW Passat gets traded at half the mileage...

Volvo's have a reputation for being good high mileage cars. Growing up in Norway that was always the local thought.
I think the concern that a lot of R owners have is with the unique parts that come on the R, like adjustable suspension and funky radiator.
I'm not too worried about putting 100,000+ miles on my R.

I miss both of my R's for the seats, uniqueness, all around package, and the turbo! It's a hell of a car and maybe someday if there is another R in the works, I will look hard at it. BTW, SS is THE BEST forum I visit, just wish BMW had one like it!

Yeah I miss SS a LOT, the MB board sucks.

Re: Any ex-R owners miss their car? (slowrey)

Now, do you notice that a lot of the people that have sold their R's still continue to post? Does the question even need to be asked? I think this is clearly remorse; and they have this primal need to feel connected to something that was beautiful that they then bastardized and abandoned for greed. You are not forgiven- your cars are out there somewhere crying for you. Hope the few dollars in your pocket make you feel better!

You mean you don't see a C55 AMG vs "****" or what will replace my C55 AMG thread every 5 weeks?
