Does the new 20022 XC60 (B models) have the fancy color changing ambient lighting that is now in just about all new cars? I believe the palette is something like 64 colors?
cheers

I mean, I don't think Big Bang is wrong (this one time). But I think it's a pretty silly feature, and I think the Swedes have a hard time wrapping their heads around it's purpose.
Scandanavian design is minimalist and utilitarian. The "disco tech" ambiance of modern BMWs is not congruent with Volvo's design.

Buy the product you like. Personally, I don't want to drive a dance club.

I like comments in the style of "Volvo doesn't need it, it's not in line with Volvo's design".
Then why did he make a digital display for the driver on the MY2022 modeled on Mercedes and Audi (with a delay of several years), why Volvo doesn't stick to classic design
Who does not like to change the light to another color, let him achieve the classic yellow light, but the owner should not be limited to only one option, but this is the 21st century.
It's especially devastating that Volvo doesn't have the ability to control the lights independently, turn off the ones you don't want or bother. You can't leave the lights under your feet and turn off lights in door or adjust the different intensity and .....

Ah yes Rolls-Royce owners are young and primitive owners so they have something like this

While the ambient lighting is not like a Benz or Audi, Volvo does offer the LEDs in 6 colors mounting in the reading light areas. While 3 lights isn't like the competition, it does cast a tinted glow in the car at night that alleviates the pitch black. The limited range of colors does allow you to match or compliment the color of the interior leather or perhaps the exterior of the car. It's a smiple yet appreciated tough if you spend a lot of time at night in the car. The 90 series that add the light pips under the wood trim is very nice without being over the top, and I wish the 60 series offered it, too.

The RR lighting looks tacky... I'd be incredibly disappointed to have that in a car of that price point. Frankly Rolls should be focused on the real experience of the car and it's surroundings and would do well to look at scandinavian design.
It is an option, with extra charge is not standard, believe it or not there is also an option with AMOLED lights, the price ranges from 1000 EUR to 10,000 EUR
Yes, RR designers are total laymen, they don't know the market and that's why they should follow the example of Volvo, which is so successful all over the world.

I've seen a report of someone with the new v90 with the new android automotive os and he claims that they have entirely removed the ability to change the interior ambient lighting colors. My guess is they haven't had time enough to code this and it will come later with an update but who knows.

It is kinda weird that they let you choose from a handful of colors, or let it change the colors according to the seasons, but you can't just dial up a palette and pick your own. Technically they are using RGB bulbs if you can change colors; there aren't 6 LED's piping through one hole for the overhead ambient.

The Rolls roof seems kinda cool but it's using fiberoptics that lead back to a central bulb/controller. That's how the stars are so small. Somehow it fits something that extravagant but if I was criticizing it, I'd expect it to rotate as you drove to maintain a mirror of the actual night sky and have recognizable constellations.

I just came out of an Audi with the typical German ambient lighting. The ambient lighting in the Volvo was a big(if petty) concern of mine. Let me tell you: you will NOT be disappointed with Volvo’s lighting. It is VERY noticeable, practical, elegant and modern without being gaudy like the Germans. It provides ambience and elegance without being a distraction.

$ 400 + $123 shipping and need to disassemble half the car to install this and the lifespan is questionable
