I doubt it for the way I drive. That's why I ain't paying full price for something that is just decoration.

The chassis is so stiff from the factory these days that these sorts of braces don't even do anything, hence the more looks than function install.

This is true. In my circle of car guys/builders, we refer to these as “fender holder together thingies”. Meaning, that’s about all they do. Look great though. Wonder what the factory one is made of?

 

Interesting, but I am not paying that kind of money for a Chinese imitation of something I do not really need....

 

They might actually be OEM parts, made in China originally, only the packaging is knock off. I'm sure a lot of that is going on as well.

 

Every little bit counts in regards to upgrades. With Volvo's especially, as all you're getting is little bit...

 

The welding on the Chinese version is definitely different.

 

Funny thing, I was going to mention that the welds actually looked decent for something like that. I'd love to see a comparison to known actual Volvo/Polestar part. Any printing/color differences, hardware differences (grade markings...)

Edit: I just compared the top photos to post #6 (I assume that is official part, right?) and the official one doesn't look welded at all, compression from the 2 bolts? Either way, that is an obvious difference.

I just installed my clone brace.

I looked at the bar and it seems thin. During install I noticed it’s right by the firewall, so I figured it probably won’t do anything. I really appreciated that it was shipped with all the tools needed for the install.

I’ll be honest I think it does something. Maybe it’s just because I tightened the screws in the strut tower.

This can be tested just need to loosen the bar up mark off the edges and see if it’s moving around by where the marking wears off. If yes then this is a huge upgrade, if not tighten your screws everyone.
