Yes you can. As far as I know it just holds the suspension in place so I would imagine it’ll just be a really really firm drive.

... can I...disable the air suspension prior to handing the car over to the mechanic? Can it be driven a short distance and still remain in the air suspension disabled mode? Or does the menu option need to be clicked after the car is on the lift prior to lifting the tires off the ground?

Great question. I do know that my Audi allroad exits the sir suspension "locked" mode when the vehicle moves at a speed grater than 3mph. I always had to wait at the dealer / repair shop and direct them to lock the suspension before the car was lifted. They NEVER did it right.

I hope the V90 will hold the setting until I manually change it.

 

My XC90 does the same. When the vehicle moves, the setting is gone. I have to re-do again.

I asked my dealer if I should do this at the tire shop and they said they never do it at the dealer when it goes on the lift.

 

I will have to tell my local mechanic how to set that function before he raises it on the lift. When I was at the dealer I asked what would happen if that function was not set prior to lifting the wheels off the ground and one service tech said bad things would happen and the other standing next to him said nothing would happen. I suppose Volvo put that function there for a reason, but I would think if terrible things happen if the function is not set, then there would be more warnings regarding it. Perhaps the function exists to lock the suspension if the technician is going to work on the suspension.

 

Nothing will happen. The only time you would disabled it is if you are doing an alignment. As the vehicle's height changes, so do all the other parameters. So you would need to lock it at normal ride height.

I tried to disable it before changing tyres but as was mentioned, as soon as the car moves it’s on. They changed the tyres with leveling enabled and nothing happened
