XC70 3.2 2010
I've been having some a/c problems over the last couple of years.
The a/c seems to either work like a champ or be weak. It is hard to tell if it is weak or not working at all. Yesterday it was working great, so I turned the a/c off, waited a couple minutes and turned it back on and it didn't seem to work again. Other days it will not be working right and all the sudden kick on. It is hard to tell if there is an engine noise change when this happens. My local shop adjusted the levels (they said slightly low), but it didn't seem to help.
My local shop quoted me 2K to replace the compressor and expansion valve, etc. I would think a compressor going bad would not be so intermittent.
I checked the clutch on the front of the compressor, and it definitely is spinning any time the a/c is on, so it isn't the clutch, unfortunately.
Any thoughts on what could cause this before I spend 2K?
Thanks
