Hi sweedspeed, new member here

My 2008 model V50 1.6D have sudden gone in to limp mode with some warning (engine light, and now alos the red triangle " and servive engine now".

Symptoms are:
  • Limp mode, and very low power, cannot rev above 3000rpms.
  • Over the last months I have seen daily commute consumptions go to 6.9l/100, where it is normallt at 5.7 l/100 on average.
  • I have noted that than keeps running after in turn the car of very often (+50% of the time i turn it off)
  • I now see a rise in oil level above Max. level.

Had a local Volvo enthusiast read the dignostics with Vida Dice, and it came with this code:

  • ECM-2A30 Particulate trap - Blocked

As I have never had the Addetive redone (owned the car for 55k KM now), we checked that via the software and got this response:

  • ADM tank level 15/15

I wonder how that can be true, and also wonder if these parameters read outs look normal?

ADM-additive pump, activated: Value=No
ADM-power supply: value=12.12V
ADM-tank lavel gauge, activated; value =No

Does this indiacte a failue in the ADM additive system?

Any input on the above is very welcome, I guess it is time for a new Particluate filter, but the 15/15 reading on the ADM additive makes me wonder it that is the cause, and how to check?

Hi, did you ever get down to the bottom of it? Do you mind sharing what the issue was and how you got it resolved? Thanks

If your car has done a lot of Miles or most of your journeys are fairly short, you will probably need to replace your DPF. It will be full of ash. Had to have mine done on an 09 1.6 drive at around 180k. You can buy a dpf (non volvo) for a couple of hundred quid and fitted for around ÂŁ150 the Snap on diagnostic most garages use can tell the ECU it has been done to avoid main dealer prices of a grand.
