For anyone who stumbles across this later. Picked up the vehicle from service today. IEM-P0A4000. They performed a total software upgrade and released the car back to me. Tech journal article I found via google was last updated in April and basically says do a hard reset, let the system go into abandon, then if the code doesn’t return, release the car. There may be a more updated internal TJ than what is on NTSA.gov, as they said that the version they looked at advised them to do total SW upgrade with VIDA (at least that’s the detail that they listed on the invoice).
So far, so fine, I guess.

 

Keep us updated if this issue returns! The T8 models do still suffer from ERAD (electric motor issues) from time to time, but it's certainly a little more rare than the previous generation. Hopefully it was just a software glitch, but the car shuddering like nuts doesn't inspire confidence in that answer.

 

I got this error today on my 2025 S60! 1,200km on the odometer. Limited to 40kmh limp. And stuck in hybrid mode (unable to switch into pure even with plenty of charge) After an hour turned off and several restarts the error was still there but I could drive normally in pure mode. I didn't dare touch the drive modes so I went home and it was uneventful. I guess it's going back to the dealer tomorrow. 3 weeks into ownership...

 

Forgot to mention it threw numerous problems including the TPMS, safety sensors etc. Like a freak out light show on the dash with error after error. Dang.

 

It just really makes you wonder why the people at the dealership don’t just update the software before the vehicles leave their lots. Mine has been solid since the update.

Even worse, 6 hrs later I charged it to 100% and the fault is gone. No sign there was any problem. This is disconcerting.

It’s a bit unclear, so just making sure - you should definitely get to your dealer and have them pull the codes and apply any necessary software updates. best of luck to us both!

 

This happened to me about a year ago right after taking delivery. It did not change operation or performance of the car. One and done. Never happened again. Figured it was a software bug.

Precisely what happened to me today (a Sunday afternoon).
Everything worked properly on my 2.5 month old 2025 XC60 t8 hybrid as I drove to a concert this afternoon in Pure mode. But after, as I entered an expressway a short distance from the performance, it failed to accelerate beyond about 25, and I noticed that it was in Drive(?) mode, and the dash displayed the warning in the photo above. Fortunately, the next highway exit was only a short distance, and I pulled into a parking area, restarted the car several times, then pressed the call button for help.
(The woman who responded was clueless, could not even tell me how to click ok, to close the message, and offered to call a tow truck. I declined.)
After several minutes I was able to close the warning (but the check engine light remained on), and after restarting the car multiple times I decided to hobble home on local roads. To my surprise the car resumed normal speeds.
I drove about 7 miles before making a short grocery stop en route home. When I restarted the car even the “”check engine” light was no longer showing, and I proceeded home driving normally in Pure mode.
I’ll take it to the Volvo dealer tomorrow.
I’m wondering why the software update discussed below is not standard prior to sale

 

I had this same issue with a 2024 V60 P* today. Went to leave work, car flashed tpms and propulsion errors, then orange check engine light was displayed on trip home. I was able to drive on electric and also put it in polestar mode, only thing I noticed was (maybe) a bit louder engine noise.

I parked it at home, ate dinner, went out and started it without any errors. I am still taking it in for diagnostics.
