This is so the DRIVER, can move the seat away from the OWNER in the rear, and/or put it back afterwards if someone needs to get in on that side.
Does the XC90 have the front seat controls in the rear passenger side seat as well like my S90 does?
OR, just plain old fun when your passenger doesn't know you can do that

 

Unlike S90, there is no control fuction in the rear to adjust the front passenger seat.

 

I've used it to help with an older passenger that gets a bit confused by all the controls. For that purpose it could be nice to control everything from the drivers seat, but I don't think that was the specific intention of the feature.

 

I agree. If there is a switch in a visible position like the Mercedes, it is easy to explain how to use, but it is located under the chair, so it is not easy to explain to the passenger how to use the function especially moving condition.
