2019 XC60 Wiper Streaks with New Blades

Hey all. I've been having some issues with my driver side wiper since I bought the car and I can't seem to figure out. There's always a large streak that goes across right where the fluid is squirted out. When I put the wipers in the service position, it looks as if the rubber is slightly warped in that area. Almost as if the arm is pressing too hard in that spot.

The first time I took the car in for it's 10k check, I brought up that maybe it could be a tension issue but was told you can't adjust the tension. They put on new blades and said the streaking was gone. It wasn't.

Then I took the car in for the new "Wiper Recall" and brought up the issue again. They fixed the recall, put on a new pair of wipers and said the streaking is gone as well. I was offered the new blades for $60 but I had some new refills at home, so I declined.

When I just put in the new refills, I'm still seeing the streaking and the warping of the rubber.

Here's a video where I show the streaking and the warping of the rubber.

I figured I would reach out here before I have to bring it back to the dealer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I have the same problem, with the streak being in the same exact spot. I had the recall done but nothing helped, cleaning the blades helps a bit but the problem comes back... I haven't seen my dealer yet but I will schedule an appointment soon and keep you all updated.

Similar thing here. It's only the left one, and it actually does a pretty good job going up, but then leaves a streak when returning down.
Changing the blades doesn't help, if not maybe in the short term.
Until now I thought it was because of the nano-coating that I had applied on the car, which included a dedicated coating for the windshield. But now I doubt that it was the case, and I am curious to know if you find a solution.
I still have to go and get the recall on the wipers' tension fixed, will do soon.

Happened to both my XC60 and S60. I just replaced the inserts. Worked on XC60, but S60 still streaked. Replaced S60 inserts again.
Basically, $120 later it's fine heh

SAME ISSUE HERE! 2016 XC 90. Bought two new Volvo sets fromAmazon and still driver side streaking on the way down. Soooo frustrating!

I had this same issue when I bought by new XC60 a few months back. I chalked it up to them sitting outside in the sun and never being used for months on the dealer lot before I bought it, therefore deteriorating . So I bought a new set of inserts and that resolved the issue for about a month and then the nasty smear in the middle of the drivers side returned. I finally figured out why and once I resolved it, and new wipers wipe clear across the middle of the drivers side blade going up and down and have ever since.

Its not the windshield, nor the blade/inserts themselves...

You say you know what didn't cause it. But what did?

Has anyone resolved this issue? I have a 2020 S90 and it has a same problem. I had it appear about 6 months after purchase and just replaced the blades with new OEM Volvo ones and the streak went away. Again, about 6 months later, the issue came back and I just replaced the blades with Valeo brand (OEM equivalent) and the issue persists. I’m thinking about trying Volvo OEM again, but I can’t be on the hook for doing a dealer wiper blade replacement all the time. My only other thought was to ask for the wiper arm to be replaced under warranty. Thoughts?

I can only think that the wiper arm is a little too curvy. It maybe applies less pressure at the center part then the streak is left on windshield in the middle. If the arm is more straight, maybe the middle part will be cleaned better, and streak will be at the ends of it, which is more acceptable.

Had three streaky lines from my original wipers, replaced the rubber inserts today and it has fixed the issue.

From what I can tell the rubber becomes hard over time and in certain spots doesn't fold with the direction of the wiper (windscreen/wiper chatter).

We have this product in Aus which lubricates the windscreen to decrease wiper chattering on the glass, not sure if there is a equivalent in US (Bowden's Own Wipe Out).

The other theory is that the windscreen glass is contaminated with mineral deposits etc, and requires a machine polish with compound.

Had this issue from day one. My fault I didn't raise the issue when it was newer. Recently took it in for 10k service, they would not cover under warranty as it was past 6 months. I went ahead and had them put new blades on anyway, issue solved. Will see how long it lasts.

Agree. Since I obtained my factory-ordered 2020 V90, the driver side wiper left a streak, even after the wiper blade was replaced. Does anyone know if an after-market wiper blade exists for my 2020 V90 Inscription?

I had the same issue with my 2018 XC60 still with the original wiper blades. A couple of weeks ago I used a synthetic clay pad and some detailer to carefully clean the windshield until the pad was not grabbing. The blades are now gliding smoothly and no streaking. Hope this works for some you that have this problem.

I have the same issue with my 2021 V60 (used management car), I replaced a new wiper a month ago and still having the streak across the driver seat (zone a).

Same as few Volvo user, it does a pretty good job going up, but then leaves a streak when returning down.

I really want to know the best solution to fix it. Pretty dangerous to drive at night in heavy rain.

I contact a Car Beauty Shop, they suggested
1. Clean up the windshield with car wash liquid.
2. Clean up the windshield with a clay at the specific area for few minutes or longer, until it is pretty smooth.
3. Dry the whole windshield and polish with car glass polish “i
4. USE the clay again, clean for the second round and wash the windshield till clean.

I spent few hours today working on it and it helps and improves a bit. But still you can see the streak.

Next week I will return my car to the dealer and ask for improvement, plus how to solve this issue.

I know this is old, but I finally found a solution and I am sure other people will land here from their google searches...
I replaced the OEM Volvo wipers with Bosch wipers (Bosch Aerotwin Jet Blade A006J).
They are much better, no streak at all. Worth the money, literally for safety when driving.

Try Valeo wipers....cheaper than Volvo and are identical in every respect....except that "the streak" isnt there!
No idea why as they look identical, I had previously tried just the inserts but it didnt cure the problem
same issue on previous V60....and same cure
