V90 R-Design ride height w/ air suspension?

Your examples are making me think my height is normal-ish...

V90RD have 4C; no option for sport suspension like on the V60.

looks like ill be fitting the adjustable links in the near future :confused:

@mpdbrown - Sorry for reviving this old thread, but how did this end? I'm pretty much in the same boat, where my S90's rear looks too high with 4C/air suspension. I was told that it can possibly be calibrated at the dealer to come down a little, as the "standard" setting is set to also work with the batteries in the rear of the hybrid models (mine is a T6, no recharge stuff etc.). If there's no battery, the rear may be somewhat higher. Did you ask your dealer about this?

My T6 is a little higher in the rear. Not as bad as it's on yours. I.e. you probably wouldn't notice it on mine without a trained eye. Yet it still annoys me...

It is very strange that the rear height seems to be all over the place: While most look okay, some look extremely high like yours. I've talked to HEICO about this and they said that the base suspension height could possibly be calibrated with the dealer's "VIDA" software. Did you discuss anything like this with your dealer? Did they look into calibrating your 4C at all?

Right now, you cannot order the non-4C lowered R-suspension anymore (in Germany. Not sure about other countries). You can only order standard or 4C suspensions and both "should" have the same ride height (no matter if on Inscription or R-Design). If you look at e.g. a 2021 T8 with 4C adaptive air suspension the ride height looks great. Check this one out:

It's not acceptable that other cars don't look like that. I'm going to dive into this as I want this to be fixed on my 2018 T6 S90 too.

If anyone is wondering if their car actually has the air suspension, just go to your settings screen under Parking Brake and Suspension. If there is an option to turn it off, you have it! (You should turn it off when jacking it up and/or being towed)

My 2018 V90 T6 RD w/four-c and rear air also seems to ride pretty high in the back when parked and the engine shut off. I'm jealous seeing all the pictures of the euro-spec V90's on here riding nice and low. The functionality of the self-leveling is great but I sure wish I could get the cheap, easy, and tune-able lowering of front springs/rear blocks that the non-air cars can have.

I just discovered all the info on here about how they raise up when the engine is shut off, etc. I don't really understand the point of that feature but I need to run it through the different drive modes with the engine running and see how much difference it makes. Also saw the $1900 Heico electronic solution and the overpriced ghostlinks.

Honestly even the front has too much of a gap between the tire and fender for my aesthetic preference. I'd like to get some front lowering springs and make up some adjustable sensor links. I think dropping 20mm would make it look perfect. It would still be best to have the option to disable the "raise when turned off" feature so that one could achieve the perfect stance when parked without having it drop too low in eco mode. I'll be sure to update here if I ever follow through on any of this.

My S90 is a German delivery and it sits as high/low as the US spec'd cars. It's only the R-Design with standard suspension that sit 15 mm lower. R-Design cars with the air suspension sit at the same height as all other S90/V90 cars.

This info is super new. It seems to be available through VIDA only. I've searched the whole internet for this, to no avail. But it is true. Tested on my S90 and the rear does indeed come up by 10 mm when the car is parked and turned off. My believe is, that as it's a "feature", I'm pretty sure it can be deactivated by the dealer somehow.

To me it's just fine. It is a stately sedan after all. If you look at Bentleys, S-Class etc. it's only the dubiously tuned that sit super low. So, I think it's just fine the way it is. I only hate (really HATE) that it comes up by another 10 mm when parked. It's also total bonkers that this can't be turned off simply through "MyCar" settings in the Sensus.

It does make a big difference if the car is already on the "higher end" of what's aesthetically acceptable. Especially when you drive bigger wheels, it really looks a bit off, when parked IMO.

I'm now in touch with my Volvo dealer to explore how/if this "comfort feature" can be deactivated through VIDA. If I get a negative replay, I'll touch base with HEICO (they're from Germany, like me). I've already talked to them about the ride height of the S90 / V90 with air suspension and they appear very competent.

Coming from Mercedes (where pretty much everything can be modified/changed via the so called "Star Diagnosis") I'm pretty confident that this "Park Mode" on Volvos is something that can be played around with.

I went quite a long way with my local Volvo dealer as well as with Volvo's official support. Response was that nothing can be done.

BUT after my last service, I noticed that the suspension module (SUM) was updated and I swear that my car sits lower now. I measured it and it came down about one centimeter compared to how it sat on the rear before.
I've no idea what they've done and my dealer couldn't give me any details about what was changed with that SUM update. No idea if there was a general update that corrected this or if there was something coded for my specific VIN (after all my complaints) or whatever... But I'm happy with how my S90 sits now:

Just remember when taking picks of a S90/V90 with rear air suspension, do it with the key on. When you turn off the car, it slightly raises the rear automatically. I assume to make it a smidge easier for exiting, and/or loading/unloading the trunk?
I guess you could also disable the suspension in the Sensus screen for tow mode or whatever, and it won't do that, maybe?

There's more to it: As you can see in my photo, the car is off and locked (mirrors folded). Yet, it still sits low. It didn't do this before the SUM update. It used to remain at a higher position in the rear.

Unfortunately I can't really tell what happened or what was changed. But it seems to do wonders to complain about the default behavior. I did this not only at my dealer, but at Volvo central service Germany. I was asked for my VIN, but the official answer always was, that they can't do anything about it.

However, as said before: When I had my car serviced, I got a list with every software update. It included the suspension module (SUM), but nobody knew what the update was about in detail. However, since then, I'm fine with how it sits. Maybe they simply re-calibrated it and it was just somehow wrong before? No idea...

About disabling the leveling: That's not really an option, because A) you lose all the dynamic adjustments while it's off and B) it'll turn back on with your next launch.

I was only talking about disabling it for pictures...
I thought you were complaining your car sits high, nvm then.
