Or call it XC90L

Just change the XC nomenclature to a different meaning... EC90 or EL90 or ER90 or E*anyletterhere*90 and if it sells well it doesn't impact the current XC90 or its history.

Any letter combination that isn't XC works as well. LC90, RC90, AC90, anything.

Volvo reads our comments and so, we shouldn't be surprised seeing them introduce the new nomenclature as suggested on here

I like the idea that "XC90 going full size luxury". People like to stick to known model names, and get excitement with upgrading.

New model name from a small manufacture won't play very well.

Just change to current XC90 to XC90 SE, standard edition.

Sticking to same model name is important to keep growing the image, instead of creating new name that people don't want to remember but will forget current one.

But I doubt how many full size SUVs will be sold. If it is like volume of V90/V90CC, it will be quite sad.
Even for Escalae, QX80, LX570 , X7, Navigator, how many of them are sold each year? Quite low volume I guess.
You've never been to Texas, have you? The extra large SUV's you've listed are the norm, everywhere.

XC90 XL, easy to get it, extra length, extra luxury
I would be apt to not adapt the most American of selling traits, more=better.

Volvo really does not want to compete with the Yukon XLs and other big American trash that lumbers around. Literally no other market in the world is clamoring for this junk.

But Volvo sells quite poorly in TX, with the biggest discount among all states.
they sell poorly compared to other brands but they still sell the hell out of them in such numbers that it matters.

New XC100 in the future

I've heard Volvo has a new model down the road that is bigger than the XC90 and may be the new flagship for the brand.

Has anyone heard any more information regarding the XC100???

I’ve heard (here) that the naming convention may not be XC100 but rather something like “XC90 XL”

if you need something bigger than a 90, you might want to consider downsizing yourself.

the most hilarious, and slightly gross, thing I see on the road is a single blonde chick driving a Yukon XL...absolute waste of resources.

But this is how American buy cars. They want full size.

Her 5 kids might have been at after-school activities when you saw her.

You must be one of the most miserable souls in Tulsa.

Another population that has no need for a gargantuan land yacht....especially with their 2 child policy.

Buutttt all they want are big SUVS and Long Wheel base sedans, for instance the s60 Inscription was made for them as we know.

Cool, they can sleep in them when their economy goes into the toilet and the money dries up.
