Something is wrong with my driver's window. Its a good 15 seconds to go up and from the sound its clear that its struggling. The other windows are slow too, but reasonable.
My xc90 had something similar problem from day 1. It will go down fine but coming up will stop every couple of inches and i can hear the motor struggling. Dealer said something was jammed and they loosened it up. No problem since then.

Could it be -- SLOW.... For Safety. To give children (and drunks) time to get their head out of the window?
What does your dealer say?

Dealer: windows known to be slow, we dont know why
I believe slow as molasses would be the best description on the xc90 windows............ its has nothing to do with auto up/down.
The windows flexes a little bit to completely close when that is active

Someone will always find a way to defend Volvo. Cars could just blow up on a parking lot, and someone would argue that is a "feature."

More seriously... something is off very often, but not always. I have a 2017 XC90 T8 and the windows are "not very fast" - but not much slower than other brands.

My father's 2016 XC90 D5 - the windows are much, much, much slower. All of them (driver, passenger, second row, etc.).
And I don't think its a MY2016 problem either. I recently got a loaner when my car died (by now, I have driven a dozen loaners, I kid you not)... and it was a 2017 T6 Momentum, with the slow windows.

So I think there is something systemic, but it does not affect all vehicles.

FWIW, the same is true on the Gen 1 XC90 as well.
I was somewhat surprised / annoyed by the <cough> leisurely pace the windows drop and move up.
I can only assume Volvo conducted extensive research and found this was the optimal rate in the name of safety.

They go up and down faster if you use the auto up down and a bit slower if you manually make em' go up and down. And yes, when I first got my XC90 I found them to be slower than previous cars I've owned.
This has been my experience exactly. And I think they are perfect. I almost exclusively use auto down/up and appreciate how it's available on all windows, unlike other manufacturers who only put it on some windows. Also, I like that when I happen to manually operate the windows, the speed is slower so that I can get the exact position I want the FIRST time.

I was playing around with the widows today and noticed that in the manual mode, they are only slow for about the top 2-3 inches of the opening going up or down. Once you pass that point, it goes to full speed. Of course in Auto mode, it goes to full speed right away. I think that's pretty cool attention to detail on Volvo's part
