Sup guys, quick question. So a friend is selling me his 03 or 04 s60 t5 with a manual gearbox for peanuts because he doesnt want it anymore. Needs work but does run and drive. I have a current project, 98 V70 GLT auto. I already bought a 5 speed swap for it with every part, bolt, nut, washer, ect. My plans where to turn this GLT wagon into a T5 wagon. Can i salvage any parts from this S60 T5 to accomplish my task? What parts are compatible? Injectors? Turbo and exhaust manifold? I know ECUs will differ and ill have to source a 98 T5 one down the road. But is it worth getting to help accomplish my goal with my wagon? Thanks in advanced guys. I tried searching and all i find is 98 vs 99 model years compatibility in P80 cars. Here is the wagon and the S60.

Quality looks real crap for some reason. But before any body says, why not fix the nicer S60 T5, its salvage title because it was in a front end wreck b4. The wagon has not and its clean as a whistle.

You'll probably have better luck and get more eyes in a specific forum. The 98 V70 forum is probably the best chance.

How can i redirect this post to that section then? Or can any mods here do that for me? I really need answers b4 buying it as i really want to. Thanks for ur advice bud!

Done!

Not a ton of compatible parts but the wheels are, and the engine and tranny will fit. 03 and up are the ideal engine for an engine swap. Some mounts have to be adapted. The turbo will be a 16T and the manifold will be an upgrade for your car.

Find out more about the S60, looks like it might be a 6 speed, which you can sell as a swap kit for a decent amount.

Thanks guys. Well im thinking of swaping out the ex mani and turbo from the glt to the t5 and vice versa. Same with the wheels and any other part that will swap and be considered an upgrade. Then sell the s60. Thats what id like to do.

That's not the best idea. The S60 will never run right with your 850 parts on it. Either fix and flip it, or part it out, taking what you want.

Why not mount up the S60 T5 engine into your 98 V70 as suggested? That's a really good motor to use for a project car.

No need to get a T5 ECU. You can either send your 98's ECU to someone to reflash with a tune that suits whatever motor, turbo and injectors you install or they can send you back a modified ECU that you can reflash yourself.

If you do just end up installing the slightly bigger turbo, injectors, and exhaust manifold from the S60 then getting a T5 ECU from a 98 isn't a bad way to make a bit more power. It won't be perfectly matched up to your engine but it'll certainly run well and give you a bit more power. Years ago, I ran a similar setup: 98 V70 AWD (same engine as your GLT) with a 15G turbo, T5 ECU, white injectors (one step up from the stock ones) and a catback exhaust. That setup yielded 218 whp on an AWD Dynojet. I was pleased.

Wow thats very encouraging! Im willing to try it but to be honest i dont really want to deal with any special mounts unless they are cheap or if i can use stock mounts from either engine. I dont really have a budget in mind but i do kinda know how much im spending all ready and how where i plan to stop dumping money into it if that makes any sense. Where can i get this info i might try it since im already pulling the engine/ trans to do my manual swap and prep the engine, t-belt kit, pcv kit, new seals and gaskets ect.

You don't even have to send out the ECU anymore; it's all done via email now. Talk to Aaron at Beust Tuning. He is the man for m4.4 tuning.

It's a good idea. The RN engines are better. More power, more efficient, smoother, higher revving.....

Dang good to know! Ima do some research on it. Now besides the engine parts and such what else fits? Do the brakes swap over? I wouldn't mess with the interior because its real tatty and its cream. I like black like whats in there now lol
