I installed the one that came with the car on Day 1 and although it doesn't cover the screen completely, it definitely protects the screen from fingerprints and potential scratches. I think it is not mean to cover the whole screen in the event you need to pull it off. But I highly recommend putting this one ASAP. If you did not get one, contact your dealer and get one. They should give it to you for free and should not charge you for it if you did not get one.
I just put my factory one on and it fit like a glove, I don't have any gaps at all.

to answer the original poster's question: I didn't got it with the car (as mentioned in earlier posts the protectors wasn't initially part of the delivery) but I've bought one (my dealer sold it to me ) and I recommend it. Since this is not a touch screen (the sensors are on the sides) I don't care if it makes the "feeling" of the screen different, it is a good protection against dirt and fingerprints. Works like a charm.

Just be careful that you don't scratch the screen protector while applying it like I did :/ I used that small plastic thingie that came with it to flatten it, but I used the wrong side.

Could you elaborate on this? I had a feeling the display was not necessarily touch sensitive, as I am able to make selections and change temp simply by hovering (albeit very close to the screen) over the "buttons", but am not sure how this works or where the actual sensors are located.

Are the fingerprints really that big a deal? I noticed them in the standard black theme, so I switched to the white theme and all of sudden the fingerprints are not so noticeable anymore. I also like the white theme because the writings are in black, so you don't need to worry about bright sunlight on the screen. Just my $0.02.

the sensors are based on light transmitters located on side and on the top border of the screen and light receivers on the opposite side. Once your finger (gloves, stick, whatever) blocks the light flow from the sender to the receiver it will be then read from the two sensors as YX coordinate pair and tracked to understand if it is a press, a swipe, a two finger rotation, etc and actionated. That is the reason why you don't need to actually touch the screen to make a choice.

You're not putting your sensus screen in your pocket, not rubbing your rings on it, not leaving it face down on a table. What do people imagine will be scratching the screen?
Fingernails for one. They can also help against spills (e.g., you brake suddenly and you have a drink in the front cupholder and it somehow splashes on the screen).

Screen protectors just seem like a good low-cost insurance option.

Cleaning. Every time you wipe the screen you drag particles across it. Just like washing the outside of your car is when you introduce swirl marks in your paint.

Preparing to visit the dealer today, it occurred to me to check whether the protector had already been fitted. Lucky I did as it saved me some embarrassment! Lo and behold the screen protector was fitted prior to collection. Fits so well that I had never even noticed! Thanks to those above for making me aware.

Funny you say that. I just installed mine yesterday (Volvo OEM) and there is a notorious space around the protector. You can immediately tell.

Interesting. There is a small border around mine but you have to really be looking for it. I'd say less than a couple of millimetres.
