Does anybody know how to remove (or just raise) the driver and passenger head rests? In my previous XC70 there were two buttons hidden deep in the back of the seats under the leather which you could just push to release the head rests. This v60 XC has a hard back to the seats and I can detect no such buttons but the headrests are clearly separate units to the seat. If you push your fingers between the seat and the headrests you can feel they are separate.
I want to fit video players which normally clamp on to the two head rest support bars but it means I have to raise the headrest an inch or two. There is no mention of this in the handbook. Any hints anyone? Much appreciated :)

I think I've found the answer. The v60 XC comes with the new WHIPS feature which somehow angles the seat and head restraint in the event of a rear shut to reduce whiplash. Therefore it looks like it's not possible to remove (or even adjust) the head rests of the front seats.

To my knowledge, they are not adjustable for safety reasons.
Oddly enough the XC40 head rests are adjustable. So the safety point is possibly invalid.

No customer facing adjustment. They aren't headrest so much as they are head restraints. However, you can just about always find a comfortable position by just tweaking the backrest a smidge.

It's more like I want to fit video units to the headrest, mounted to the internal supports for viewing from behind which was easily possible with my XC70 and from what @Ultrarunner511 is saying is also possible in the XC40. For some reason the head restraints in the v60 XC aren't adjustable and bearing in mind there are some very tall people whom might drive a v60 this seems strange.

If your video players are tablets this is what I use:

That looks like it would do the job alright without having to remove the headrest but I think I would need a different version as the gap under the headrest on a v60 XC (22 year) is only a few fingers wide. Does it damage the front side of the head restraint though, that flat mounting doesn't look very sympathetic to the leather (or the back of the driver's head)?

That particular supplier doesn't appear to supply ones for my vehicle: 2022 Volvo V60 Dashboard Mounts

Just been having a look and these things are 1/10 the price in the UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=car+tablet+holder+volvo+v60+xc&crid=SQYPTSJDGILU&sprefix=car+tablet+holder+volvo+v60+xc,aps,58&ref=nb_sb_noss

thanks for your help, I didn't think to look at these! :)

thank-you. Would you know what the process is to remove them?
KentXRS posted the removal procedure above, I also checked VIDA service data, and it shows basically the same thing, you need to first pull the seat back panel, and undo the back rest leather cover clips and then you can pop the headrest off.

It looks like the best way to achieve this rather than disassemble the seat is to buy a specialised tablet-holder (iPad, etc) which is compatible with Volvo v60 XC and fits through the hole under the headrest: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SmartProduct-Headrest-compatible-suitable-Tablets/dp/B098FFGVX8

The mount I posted will work with your 2022 V60 XC. I use the same version on my 2020 V60 RD and my wife's 2017 XC90 RD. You will not feel it on your head and it is actually a seamless install (not hard on the leather). The install is exactly the same as the one you found on Amazon.
