I fully share your dissapoitment, additionally some new drive-e engines are mated to the ancient 6 spd auto! WTF...Had noticed this information stated to appear on a couple of other European Volvo sites (eg Swedish and Dutch). The major takeaways for me from this information is :-
1. for the EUCD Volvos (ie 60, 70 & 80 series Volvos), still no Drive-E/AWD combinations. With replacement of the 60 series Volvo's still 2-3 years away this is disappointing.
2. the only AWD models (V40CC excepted) are with the "old" legacy engines and transmission
3. the new Drive-E D5 makes its appearance in the S60 and V60 although as per above - as FWD only. Still impressive performance and fuel economy from the new D5. Disappointed the new D5 hasn't found its way into the V60CC.
4. for the V40CC, the Drive-E T4 AWD joins the existing Drive-E T5 AWD. Disappointed the D4 (or even better the new D5) is still not AWD for the V40CC. Still no AWD versions for the standard V40.
As an aside, I hope the European and US Volvo websites can hold on to their current format as long as possible. Great information and easy to find. Unfortunately here in Australia, Volvo Australia have recently adopted the new Volvo web format (modelled on the Volvo International site) which is next to useless. You can't compare two (or more) models side-by-side anymore.

it is the third generation of the 6speed auto from Aisin warner.I fully share your dissapoitment, additionally some new drive-e engines are mated to the ancient 6 spd auto! WTF...
remember the word...TRANSITION?I fully share your dissapoitment, additionally some new drive-e engines are mated to the ancient 6 spd auto! WTF...
No. Not transition. It is a gearbox specifically engineered for these engine's. I thought it was based on the 8 speed technology but apparently it isn't.remember the word...TRANSITION?
It's also a big improvement over the Powershift transmission it replaces. For example, the S60 T3 auto now does 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and consumes 5.8 l/100 km vs 10.2 seconds and 6.8 l/100 km for the old T3 Powershift. Performance from the auto is now close to that of the manual:it is the third generation of the 6speed auto from Aisin warner.
available in two flavours:
AWF6F25 for torque under 300nm ( also found in the Bmw i8)
AWF6F45 for torque under 480nm
and at least, Volvo can now offer the lowest power output with an optinal AT.
It will be later this year. In the Polish price list for 60 series it states Drive-E T6 AWD available in November.1. for the EUCD Volvos (ie 60, 70 & 80 series Volvos), still no Drive-E/AWD combinations. With replacement of the 60 series Volvo's still 2-3 years away this is disappointing.
That is indeed an interesting find. Clearly states (at least for the S60 pricelist) the availability of a Drive-E T6 AWD from late this year. Interestingly however the listing doesn't appear in the corresponding price list for the V60 and I can't open up the price list for the XC60. I hold out hope for my dream of a V60CC Drive-E D5 AWD. One can live in hope.It will be later this year. In the Polish price list for 60 series it states Drive-E T6 AWD available in November.

Thanks for the find.

I rarely take pleasure in proving a fellow Sweedspeed member wrong,Just passing along the information, it was volvobuff who mentioned about it a few weeks back.
Had to check again and indeed it doesn't appear in the V60 price list. Also seems to be removed from the XC60 price list too. It definitely was there earlier. Strange..
Believe me I'm happy to be wrong in this caseI rarely take pleasure in proving a fellow Sweedspeed member wrong, but I am at least in this instance happy to report that you are twice mistaken: the information is still very much there in both of the 2016 product brochures. Perhaps something got lost in the translation from Polish to Finnish.

Let me try again:No. Not transition. It is a gearbox specifically engineered for these engine's. I thought it was based on the 8 speed technology but apparently it isn't.
So basically you are implying that for MY16 volvo did not have enough time and proper planning to integrate the 8 spd into the other drive-e engines, and that the MYY17 cars will have them?Let me try again:

No. transition meaning the AWF6F25 mated to a 1500CC VEA 4 cylinder will be replaced with a 3 cylinder in the near future..So basically you are implying that for MY16 volvo did not have enough time and proper planning to integrate the 8 spd into the other drive-e engines, and that the MYY17 cars will have them?
The lower output engines use the same block as the T5 and T6, which are mated to the 8-speed. It would have required less time and effort to use the same rather than a different transmission. So basically you are implying that for MY16 volvo did not have enough time and proper planning to integrate the 8 spd into the other drive-e engines, and that the MYY17 cars will have them?
There is apparently a new 7speed dual-clutch in the way for the smallest output.No. transition meaning the AWF6F25 mated to a 1500CC VEA 4 cylinder will be replaced with a 3 cylinder in the near future..![]()
I think it is more about economy. The lesser powered engine's don't need an 8 speed. These engine's are top speed limited at 190 km/h.The lower output engines use the same block as the T5 and T6, which are mated to the 8-speed. It would have required less time and effort to use the same rather than a different transmission.
