Re: Tracking Volvo shipment and delivery - How To (tmtalpey)

Our car shows as "discharged" on the Wallenius tracking site. What exactly what does this mean? Is it already cleared through customs? Is it on a truck or waiting for a truck? Thanks!

Re: Tracking Volvo shipment and delivery - How To (ES-V50T5)

Discharged from the shipper, and probably in customs or awaiting a truck. Basically, this is the final step you can track via the sites - it's now in the government's or Volvo's hands. Should be on its way to you soon!

Tom.

How long after you ordered your car before you got a VIN. I ordered my S40 on 11/13. I asked my dealer but no VIN yet. they had projected a mid January delivery.

You should be getting your confirmation papers about now with a delivery date and travel arrangement information. As I remember, we got a VIN some 6 or 7 weeks after we initially ordered. The OSD experts on the OSD forum such as Bob Kennedy would be able to tell you more exactly.

The post is back, now that the zeroforum archive is back online, so I updated its formatting and checked the links. Also added URL for the Volvo Gent website.

2011 S60 is ON BOARD ! ! ! Don Juan is carrying my girl over from Zeebrugge!

Ordered: September 29
Born (VIN # issued): October 25
On Board Date: October 28
ETA New York: November 8

No port installed options so let's see how long before it arrives to my dealer!!

In reviewing this thread, I'm not sure how to interpret the time differences. Perhaps Volvo's sales are up, perhaps the model ordered makes a difference, or maybe the plant in Belgium closes each winter for several weeks, but the time line for delivery of my car seems to be outside the curve.

I ordered November 20. It was COL on 1/12. It isn't showing up on Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics' site. It is due in California on February 11 with delivery scheduled for February 27. It seems like two months has been the norm for some orders, but we're at over three. I'm surprised. When Volvo originally was launching the C30 in the US, they wanted to make it highly customizable and deliverable in about six weeks. I don't know if they ever implemented that program, but something is different (perhaps a combination of several things).

It showed up on Wallenius Wilhelmsen's site last Friday and got loaded onto the Don Juan on Monday. Apparently it didn't catch the originally scheduled ship. The tracking thing is cool, except when there is no update for a while, making me wonder whether it went kurplunk (the way of the Tricolor). Interesting logistics around this.

You can track the actual position of the ship

What a fun thread and thanks to the OP for posting this..
I have had a blast for the past 30 minutes laying on my couch whilst my wife watches American Idol just shaking her head as she looks over at me

Me: I think I may be able to find out the exact status of the V50
Wife: Neat
Me: Oh wow, I just found is was loaded on a vessel named TURANDOT at ZEEBRUGGE and left on 2/20
Wife: ohh
Wife: Look, I can see where it has ported so far
Wife: (silence)
Me: I even found pictures of the vessel it is on
Wife: You are basically stalking your car (as she shakes her head)

PRICELESS!!

SO according to what I have found, my vehicle ETA at Baltimore is 3/3... My dealer has told me it will be at their place on 3/26.. Seems like a long time to get from Maryland to Michigan...lol

Your salesperson will generally tell you when two of these happen, FPF is when the "change date" is passed and a VIN is assigned, and "ARRD" is when it shows up on the lot. But you can see the car by other means from VCMP through DPOE, as it enters and leaves port.
I have been using the W W site to track my car and the last update was DELIVERED FROM PORT HUENEME, CA 09-03-2011 07:30:00 1
Anybody knows how any of the "other means" mentioned in the original post that I could use to find more status ? I called the dealer and anything he could tell is that the car is estimated to arrive on March 20th but nothing more. Thanks!

Your Volvo retailer can tell you if the car is going through customs, if it's been released to the transport company, if the truck has left the port, etc. Ask them to check your FYON on CIS.

Feel free to send it to me and I can update you.

Does anybody know what "delivered From" means? Also is it possible for the shipper to release the vehicle to customs while it's still on the boat, not even in port yet? According to the tracking, the vehicle was released to customs and liner released on 4/11 but it arrived at the port of discharge last night, 4/13. I guess they could send the paperwork in advance?

DELIVERED FROM NEW YORK, NY 14-04-2011 08:00:00 1
DISCHARGED NEW YORK, NY 13-04-2011 22:00:00 1
LINER RELEASE NEW YORK, NY 11-04-2011 11:26:55
CUSTOMS RELEASE NEW YORK, NY 11-04-2011 00:00:00
LOADED ON VESSEL ZEEBRUGGE 01-04-2011 15:03:00 1

Mine is still on the boat, though due in early in the morning and it too shows these releases. Therefore the answer is yes. Note that the status is not yet set to 1.

BTW here are the states I believe a Volvo order goes through:
PPF - Pre Production Status
FPF - Fixed for Production
COL - Car on Line
FC - Factory Assembly Completed/Going Through Quality Control
VCMP - Vehicle Configured for Marine Processing (prepared for loading on vessel)
LOVE - Loaded on Vessel
ARRI - Vessel Arrived at Port of Entry
LFPR - Landed First Point Rest, in the process of being unloaded and is awaiting port processing
PORT - Going through Port processing
PPC - Going though certification
MONR - Monroney window sticker being prepared for the vehicle
COFT - Called on Final Transportation (Car On Truck)
DPOE - Departed Port Of Entry
ARRD - Arrived at Dealer
DELC - Delivered to Customer

Dumming up an old thread here, I know.. but does anyone know how to view these detailed stages outlined in the original post? Is it only a dealer who can look it up?

The ship reached Baltimore on Sep-1. Till now (Sep-8) EH Harms EDST page showed it hasn't cleared customs. Called EH Harms and got this information: "Released to Volvo NA on Sep-2. For additional info call them @ 1-800-631-1667". Called Volvo. It has been sitting in storage (AMPORTS INC) since then with no scheduled pick up date and ETA of 9/23 at the dealer. The agent I spoke to was a nice lady. She confirmed my email and phone number to send me updates. Further, the date Sep-23 is more like worst-case scenario and it should reach the dealer sooner.

Sounds like it's waiting for a truck to come by and haul it to your dealer. Your salesperson probably knows more.
