Your thoughts please, 2001 S80 w/230K, worth buying for about $2K?

Saw a cheap volvo to get the wife as her first car. She's learning how to drive so what's better than a S80 to make sure she's safe. Any thoughts about the high miles?

Thanks

Now that's a disposable car. If it is a T6.......pass (though you may want to pass even if it is not).

Is it a T6 or 2.9? That amount of miles i would be skeptical, even for that price. If its just a learner and you'll sell it later then it might be a good car to learn on.

It's 2.9. If T6, I'd be really worried about the turbo...

It had a new transmission put in by the local dealer 60K ago. By pictures, it looks OK.

This is not really meant to be a long-term car, my wife wants a Mini. But for a first "learner" car, I can't think of something that's safer or more disposable for the $.

Thanks...

I have a 2001 T6 with 112,000. I love it when it works. But it drives me crazy. The repair costs have been outrageous. But I paid $16K three years ago with 70K miles. $2,000 with the idea she will drive it for a year...keep your fingers crossed...

i wouldn't worry about the high miles for a 2K worth car if you know the tune up history...just drive it and check the engine if there are any leaks or weird stuff, repair is costly but if you think it is fine, get it...
