I thought it would be interesting to see how everybody here got to swedespeed and if they had seen a car that convinced them to start modding their own...
warrens car was the reason I started modding my wagon, and it's still one of my favourite cars (even if it's gone now )

(and maybe we can get a nice little gallery together with even some unknown "new" cars?)

Re: your 'role models' ? (crossie)

Genes car is what convinced me, but we have all seen that car many many times by now lol. I think its funny though the cars we all seem to love are all so basic, nice set of wheels, lowered, and a factory sport body kit with a grille

Re: your 'role models' ? (ForceFed Motorsports)

I actually found this site thru an S80 owner who crashed his car and is now getting an S60R but i do believe that The guy that owns the s40forum got me into modding my t5 even though i was going to do it either way haha

Re: your 'role models' ? (crossie)

I actually came across SS by chance, but have used these forums as my primary source of info for Volvos since. Whoever posted a pic of their dark red Volvo semi-recently may have convinced me to repaint my car, whenever I have the funds. That looked absolutely divine.

Re: your 'role models' ? (40 Rouge)

I had seen that too, but after being misled by that car wasnt into it after that. Too much of that was custom work like a typical SEMA car, once i realized that most of it couldnt even be purchased it was just a one time thing i was dissappointed that they advertised it like you could.

Re: your 'role models' ? (40 Rouge)

I agree with 40 Rouge 100%, after visiting Evolve's website I just couldn't wait for my car to arrive. I did have a not so good response from Evolve after I contacted them for their rear lip spoiler, even before I got my car. Oh well... Then there was Heico's website and SS and ever since I just can't seem to stop... it has become a bad addiction. Do I need help?
Great car, great community...

Re: your 'role models' ? (05T5)

A few of my role models, there are other's but I don't have time right now:

Not an S40, but one of my favorite Volvos ever that has inspired me:

And I'll admit when I first got into Volvo that Evolve was the coolest sounding name ever and had some cool stuff. Something about the way their front bumper piece raising up on the bottom is something I've never gotten over: I wish it was more flat. Probably designed the way it is to prevent scraping. The rest of their kit is pretty sick.
I take inspiration from every S40 I see, I take in the good, the bad, and the ugly so that I can combine all the good ideas into one harmonious idea.
I have my own company and I got these as our company cars. Mine was Red. Had our 3rd kid and wife said to get bigger car. It was a toss up between Merc, Beemer, Audi or Volvo. Guess who won
Now I have the best of both worlds. Speed and 5 doors for the familly. Wait till the GT3076R convertion is done !!! I was also hooked on the Evolve S40's looks.

I can't remember how I got here. Google I guess.
I always wanted to mod my car since I got it, so no one really inspired me to do so... HOWEVER!
Sana is my rolemodel. I really like that he thinks for him self and doesn't just add aftermarket equiment but builds his own. Forced to or not owning a 2.4
I like his ideas and always looks forward to his threads about new stuff.
Sana if you reading this. Re: (TheDane)

I bought my Volvo to hopefully get out of the JDM scene and any modding scene for that matter. I wanted to have a nice, comfortable, European daily driver. That didn't happen though...nearly 20 grand later i can thank Don Nicholson and his crazy innovations! Talk poop about Don and his business all you want, but when any of you initially started doing research on S40's and modding them for that matter, that guy made your jaw drop with his Sema S40. Here's to him
As for someone on the forums, Aj (Carreragt7) is an inspiration to me. I have no idea if he thinks about what he's doing or if he just does it, but his car is hot.

LOL, thanks! I appreciate that. I think we all help each other out, and it is fun. Each of us have good (and bad, lol) ideas that help the community grow better.

Re: your 'role models' ? (crossie)

I purchased my S40 without ever having seen any heavily modified S40's, so you can imagine my pleasant surprise when I came across a few. My main inspiration came from volvos40T5. His car to date is one of the most stunning S40's I've yet to see. However, biotek was also quite an inspiration. Now that those members post much less often, carreragt and Gene's cars keep me in check.
volvos40T5:

biotek:

Great thread

Wasn't necessarily a car that got me into it. I was just looking for some basic information on my S70 back in 2005. Stumbled upon VPtuning.com (now vivaperformance) and the rest is ancient history.
As far as role models, I tried to base my car off Kevin Teeter (from volvospeed)'s car.

My car:

My first meet this guy named Jon Belmont showed up with his C70 and that only showed me the potential these cars have. Fun fact: dude was in the military and sawed off a Mig fighter joystick and used it as a shifter. Not a very good picture of his car but it's the only one I can find right now.
