freedomfries - I recently purchased the sister (brother?) car to yours (same colour and wheels but with a 2.5T). I actually like the colour/wheels combo but the paint on my wheels is quite worn, so I might get them refinished in the spring. I actually like the looks of the 17's but you might get a smoother ride with a higher profile 16 comparable tire. Whereabouts in Canada are you located?

Agreed that the blackout pillars looks great.

My old 2001 V70 T5 had Metis wheels with larger 215 55 16 Michelin Primacy tires. Not a performance tire, but it seemed to ride smoother than my new 2002 V70 T2.4 with Mimas and Michelin MXV4 205 55 16. I knew, every time I saw Metis wheels on a V70, it was probably a T5. I bought a set of 17" Amalthea's, but learned to like the Metis wheel.

Your favourite 16" wheels?

I can't recall seeing them on a P2 V70, but I've always liked Meteors.

I replaced the (CDN market) OEM 16 inch Metis wheels on my T5M with 16 inch Sirius wheels. Same wheel as thaxman- I think they look great (Ferrari/Alfa Cromodora vibe, kinda ;) ) and with 215/55-16 rubber, there's more than enough grip.

I ran 235/45-17s on Amaltheas (CDN market T5 optional wheel) for a year, but found the ride harsh due to wretched ON road conditions. And 17s add a lot of unsprung weight. So I swapped back to the Sirius wheels.

/obscure Volvo anorak fact: the UK "all-new Volvo Police Car"- September 2000 brochure shows the model V70 vehicle on Metis wheels, as does a 2002 UK "Volvo Police Car Range" brochure V70 [Volvo Cars Special Vehicles AB MS/PV 0999/02 English/UK]. And I have a photo of a West Yorkshire Police V70 on Metis wheels. Yes, I need to get a life... ;)

The unsprung weight does make a difference on my 2.4. My 15" steelies and winter tires weigh 36lbs while the Amaltheas and 235/45 tires are 44lbs. The Mimas are 39lbs with 205/55 tires

+1 for Meteors on the 98 V70R.
I also like Persus

However, a bit strange to see P2 cars with P80 wheels ... just a personal opinion though.
