Saw the same commercial on Speed. Would oil make that much of a difference? Quaker State is really putting themselves on the line.

typical marketing of synthetic oils. Claim to lube better and slightly improve HP and gas mileage.
I have pretty much always used synthetic oil so I could not tell you a difference.

just another motor oil commercial with a bunch of ponies racing down the highway. maybe we should use Quaker instead of Catrol recommended by Volvo.
difference between synthetic and conventional? there are none. I've used both. the key is to change your motor oil often (often mean between 4K-5k interval) synthetic motoroil suspends pollutents better however, but at a cost of 3 to 4 times the amount you'd pay for conventional.
I can only justify synthetic if I run my car in high rpm all the time. But my car is mostly commuting with exceptions of quick light-to-light runs with 300zx and inifinitis (so far I have beat them all)

I know that when I'm sitting in traffic in mild temps, the turbo is certainly belching a lot of heat.

A friend of mine says he gets smoother idling but that was for his cavalier Z34 (remember that car?)

I didn't do it for performance reasons but simply for better turbo protection.

I used full sythetic on a 1981 Ford Escort. It was a hell of alot faster than regular oil.
