Hi all, car's in the shop again. I've been getting the Reduced Engine Performance warning intermittently for a while now. Sometimes I've completely lost drive, other times It runs, albeit poorly. Showed up again recently, First time while driving, then while reversing out of a space in a parking lot, then on a cold start. After it showed up on the cold start the car stalled out when I was in first at a stop light, then ran like crap the rest of the way to the shop. It usually goes away if I turn the car off for 10 minutes or so, but this time it hasn't gone away.

When the code is read it shows an issue with the pedal sensor, so I had it replaced about nine months ago. It happened once about a month after that & then didn't happen again until about a couple weeks ago. The shop it's at now (which is a volvo specialist indie place) tried cleaning the throttle-body, no change. They said I may end up having to take it to a dealer (which I don't really want to do). I've been googling & searching the forums for answers to what the issue might be, but I can't find a solid answer. It seems like it's one of those things that could be anything. Can anyone who has had this issue before chime in on what it ended up being or other things I should have them check? Any info would be super appreciated!

I've been getting this error lately as well along with the reduced engine performance warning. Great...but not so great on an 85mph roadway in the morning where I am then slowing down traffic.

I bought a used unit off ebay for $62 and put it in with no issues. So far runs good. My issues were in the AM when it was cold it would trigger the message as soon as I pressed on the gas pedal, but during warmer times (or blasting heat through the floor for a half hour) it would be clearable and stay cleared. Nearest I can figure is that there is a microcrack in the solder on at least one of the two pathways for comparison.

I took the gas pedal apart today and saw a relatively simple double digital mechanism instead of a rheostat+digital. Gas pedal is original to me and supposedly is about 137k mi old.

Large pictures incoming:
