[BMFC]

New here, been beating my head against my desk trying to get info on the B20 in my car.

From everything I've found so far the B20 block should have 4669 cast into the block followed by other numbers stamped into the plate next to it, but my block only has 49 cast into it followed by 8234 on the plate and 736 on the last plate both by the distributor. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose it's possible that 1) someone ground off the last two numbers to mask the actual type of engine (for example, on my non-Volvo race engine, the head number (18) was ground off and the block was changed from 1800 to 1600 to mask that the engine was not a 1600; or 2) that the engine came from from other type of vehicle - boat, truck, backhoe, tractor. .

I just liked seeing that the B18B has 115 hp while my B18D has 90. I might have to take steps to find that extra 25 hp. Shaved head, D cam, KD needles... I just cannot leave well enough alone.
