After two weeks of hell driving a loaner 2.4i I finally got my T5 back!!! My timing belt went and I bent every single valve in my engine. I talked to my Regional Operations Manager, and the higher ups when we went to the C70 Roadshow a couple of weeks ago and I never got a straight answer about how often this happens to S40/V50. Has this happened to anyone else? Or is it just my bad luck!??! The belt went at 35 kph, by the way. Only 34,000KM on the engine. Scary. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/eek.gif" BORDER="0">

Yeah, they replaced the head. I don't have the work order with me right now but I was without my car for two weeks! I know of one other in our dealership that this has happened to, and our cars came off the same truck! These two S40's were two of the first to come to us. Of course I had to buy one of the first one's! I was very disheartened at first, and vowed I was never going to buy another Volvo, but there are moving parts and it could happen to any car. I don't want any other car!

They replaced timing belt, tensioner, drive belt compressor, auxilleries belt, replaced cylinder head, and all sorts of gasket and sealing rings. Yikes.

They were okay. Thank goodness. It's just really disheartening as it is hard to trust that car now. I felt like I was let down.
