Guys, I know this topic has been dragged through the mud. However no real answers or solutions or attempts have been made that I can find. I need to replicate Noble and Polestars output gains in the 4.4L V8. I need as close to that 650 marks as I can possibly get. First step would obviously be boring to 5.0. I don’t want to hear about it being a transverse application and I definitely don’t care about the turd-of-an-aisin tranny. This motor will have the honor of powering my 300zx 2+0. Many have LS swaps. This will be the first true Japanese V8 swap of its kind I know of. And the sound, ohhhhh that one of a kind V8 roar that can only be produced by a 60* offset V8. Help me please. This must happen. Free rides for anyone who helps me achieve my dream.

This is a Yamaha motor made from Volvo specs specifically for the XC90. It was used in the s80 as well. This is the same motor polestar built and achieved 650hp NA for the Australian V8 circuit. British based Noble squeezed 650hp by slapping two garret turbos to each side of the motor. My quest is to find out what internal work was done besides boring out to 5.0L and what type of dry sump oil system they’re using. I’m taking my v8 out of my xc and building it for my Nissan 300zx. Many cars have ls swaps. However the Yamaha v8 has a very distinct sound due to its design and is extremely potent. And being the Nissan is Japanese it deserves a Japanese v8

I'm sure you've searched all the other forums that have posts about this motor. I just searched "yamaha 4.4L v8 forums" and saw many forums discussing this motor. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress, it likely will not be easy "to replicate Noble and Polestars output gains" of this motor and quite expensive to do so.

I have seen many discussions “about” this motor. Nothing in depth as to what type of internal upgrades are necessary or what the of dry sump system used. Money isn’t the concern however I cannot just call noble and buy a motor. I want to build my own. So if any one had any insight as how to do so please chime in. Any naysayers please take your saynay elsewhere. Just trying to make a silly dream a reality. And please don’t take offense. I just don’t like anything other than positive outlooks.

I don’t have any answers for you but I applaud your bonkers project idea. I would also recommend that you request admission to a Facebook car enthusiast page I moderate, Apex Automotor, which currently has just over 20k members including numerous automotive journalists, engineers, racers, and industry insiders. This isn’t a plug for the Facebook page so much as me offering you a very real opportunity to put yourself in a community where someone who has firsthand knowledge of this 650hp 4.4 might well be lurking. Mention the SwedeSpeed reference if/ when you apply and I’ll fast track admitting you to the page.

I would like to know as well. Having a XC90 V8, I hope to pull the motor out one day, rebuild it with turbos and drop it into (something).
