Hey guys I am still deciding if I should get a xenon retrofit or try to wait for the volvo's xenon kit if they have it. Anybody have any comments or suggestions for the xenon retrofits? Stage 1 stage 2?

Stage I, unless you like that silly purple light looking and poorer visibility in the rain...then Stage II. Still...spending $500+ for HID conversion is just a bit much.

I'm still debating if I should get my kit + the cheaper MIT (made in Taiwan) balast instead of the German one.

I am also wanting to install the Phillips HID kits either in the stock lens or wait for the Volvo Bi-Xenon lens and install the Phillips kit in there.

I asked a few different dealerships if they know if the MY02 Bi-xenons and be fitted in the MY01 - one said YES absolutly, the other wasn't too sure.

If we were to use the Phillips kit, is there an issue with the DRL (daytime running lights)? I am from Canada and DRL is mandated by law.

Thanks,
Jason

The DRL is fine, I got mine turned off and I'm from toronto, but just that u have to leave the lights on most of the time. Xenon are not designed for full time use but there are no other choice. If the bi-xenon housing from volvo will be made available to the people who currently own S60 then I guess I will wait for that since it has auto leveller as well which the current housing doesn't have any at all.

Not having had a chance to fully play with an S60 yet, I don't know if you can use the fogs with the parking lights... if not, maybe somone could figure out a fix for that and use the fogs instead of the Xenons for the dtrls...? just an idea...

I have heard much discussion about this on vvspy and as far as I know at this point Xenon's for the S60 will not be able to be fit into past models. This is due to the front and engine compartment had to be redone to fit the electronics needed. I howere like you all hope that they will release a retrofitable unit, especially because I think the market for them will be huge. Hope this helps

Yes, you can use the fogs with parking lights but I think that such use of fogs are...geeky to say the least!
Same thing as people driving with their fogs during the daytime or during a perfectly clear night...they are meant to be used on poor visibiliy conditions such as snowfall, heavy rains, dust, etc.
