We had to replace one xenon bulb on our 2004 xc70. Cost was $400. Car had 97k miles on it.
Is this normal?

Re: Xenon bulb replacement (CoconutPete)

Sorry, I didn't state it correctly. It got changed at the dealership, they have to pull the front bumper and the headlight fixture to replace the xenon. That's why it cost $400. Guess we should have used the DRL's!
I just checked on my Audi also when at the dealership today, they said they have to do the same thing....bumper and fixture removal.
So, besides the '04 model year Xenon's being really poor designs with terrible illumination, they cost me an arm and leg to replace.
oh well.....win some, lose some.....

Re: Xenon bulb replacement (Surf NH)

uh... you can replace the bulb without taking the bumper off. You just need small, agile hands. I hate to say it, but you got ripped a new one.
IF they had to replace the ballast, that's another story.
