Volvo Re-prices 2009 XC90 Models
. Volvo Cars of North America announces price reduction for 2009 XC90 models
· Buyers can save up to $3,250 on XC90 V8 and V8 R-Design models
· Volvo will only offer XC90 as a seven-passenger vehicle
· Price reduction to take affect April 1, 2009

Rockleigh, NJ (April 2, 2009)- Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA) announced today it will reduce pricing on its 2009 XC90 models by approximately 8 percent. Buyers will save up to $3,250 on V8 models and $3,245 on the 3.2-liter six-cylinder models. The reduced pricing is being strategically launched in an effort to boost sales while more closely aligning customer transaction prices with listed MSRP. Additionally, with the release of the new XC60 five-passenger premium crossover, the XC90 will be offered only as a seven-passenger vehicle. The pricing reduction will take effect April 1, 2009.

"The decision to re-price the XC90 was taken to provide a strong value message to our customers," said Doug Speck, President and CEO of VCNA. "The XC90 has been one of the most successful vehicles for Volvo, and this action will help to continue that success." The new MSRP for the XC90 3.2 seven-seat variant will provide a significant price advantage against the competition including the Acura MDX, Audi Q7 and Mercedes ML.

I thought Volvo was "Premium"; not Value.

Discounting them for the fond farewell or perhaps Volvo finally realizes that they can't command premium prices for a middle tier brand. Maybe they'll even wise up and bring the S80 prices in line too.

"PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE..." -with so many trips to the dealer I am very hesitant to buy another Volvo -ours is going out of warranty soon, and I decided against extended warranty, if I keep getting problems, then I will just go to another maker -RX350 or FX35, may even try New Q5. Even my Land Rover has not had so many problems as "premium" and "value" Volvo XC90.

Anyone know if these incentive numbers for april are accurate? $4000 manufacturers + $1500 loyalty

http://www.edmunds.com/new/200....html

Combined with the price reductions and these incentives, i would think you could get some pretty good deals on the xc90 now.

$4,000 is only on remaining 5-pass models. 3.2L 7-pass get $750 and V8s get $750.

Loyalty $$$ is correct.

I love this $hit. Really, I do.

"Loyalty" dollars? Hilarious. Almost as funny in November when Max said that the deals [then] weren't going to get any better.

A person could be a Volvo-hating war criminal and qualify for "loyalty" dollars.

Here's another funny one:

Hmmm. Does this mean that last year's XC90 3.2 was neither versatile or premium? Of did customers only get that through an extra outlay of cash?

The enthusiasts on SS will tell you you're crazy not to buy expensive extended warranties. Cha-ching. Another outlay of cash.

Fortunately, Volvo doesn't call extended warranties "reliability packages". That would be rude in light of how much it costs to buy their vehicles in the first place.

The driving public should, and can, expect more. This time, the consumer has the upper hand. It's now payback for poor dealer support, marginal reliability, and bloated prices.

Stick it to 'em, new car buyers.

Stick
It
To
Them.

I could understand statement of negative facts, but why on Earth is everyone so negative about EVERYTHING on here?

If it's just an opinion, then why try SO hard to force it upon others?

Jeez, it's gotten OLD!!!

Re: (T Schroeder)

If you want an XC90, work your own deal. Don't let salesmen tell you you've got to buy today in order to qualify for some new scheme. Today's scheme may not last forever, but they'll be another -- even better scheme -- as time passes.

The positive thing is that the economy is giving buyers incredible leverage in the new car purchasing game.

That is good news, T. Is it not?

Re: XC90 USA Price Reductions (Calhon)

Will they be replacing the window stickers on existing cars, or does this apply only to vehicles produced after April 1?

I assume the former, though I can remember only one other time when window stickers have been replaced (GM a few years back).

I've updated the prices on TrueDelta.com, so people can see the price advantages Volvo notes.

Yeah sure......replacing window stickers.

Most likely, targeted incentives for those vehicles produced before the adjustment.

Cars have been re-invoiced. New stickers are coming.
Demos and Loaners DO NOT get re-invoiced or get new Monroneys. They do get the price reduction in the form of an incentive.
