And does someone have even a strong hunch how much of battery power is limited by software to make battery life longer and "hide" wear from consumers? I think Volvo xc90*s battery's are from LG
There are couple guys from Czech Republic and doing all kind of software changes..
That's the difference between net and gross battery capacity. As the article points out, net on the MY16 and 17 is 9.2kWhr and net (usable is 6.5kWhr although I think by the time they hit production it may have been closer to 6.2kWhr). It's primarily to prolong battery life but also it gives buffer to allow for degradation over time. All EVs have a gross and net rating. I recall Audi's first eTron had a overly conservative net capacity and after they had some on the market they dug into the gross capacity via an update to allow for better range.
