Hi folks,

I'm waiting to sign a contract for a 2020 ex-demo XC90 R Design. The R Design comes standard with 22'' low profile wheels. I wanted to inquire if a thicker profile tyre can be fitted to the vehicle at some point in future when I have to change tyres? Basically, a thicker “low profile” is what I'm thinking. Anything other then that I suppose I will have to change the rims and not sure if that will even work....

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Cheers from Sydney

Hi! I just made a post about this regarding the 22" inch winter tires I had mounted. I went for the next sidewall size up 35 to 40, to see if it would help improve ride quality. Unfortunately there is some minor rubbing in comfort mode, which is a little worse in offroad mode. I'm going to try and stretch the wheel liner out of the way...I'll post an update on that original post later :)

Do you know if this is something that can be reprogrammed? Ive been looking into going from 40 aspect to 45s on my 21inch wheels, however, was certainly concerned about fitment and speedo issues.
To be honest, I haven't looked in to it. I'm sure there is a way to calibrate the speedometer. If I choose to stay with this size even for summer tires I would definitely pursue it. For me, the vast majority of driving I do is low speeds 50km/h. The difference at those speeds is less than 2km so negligible.
