How could the T6 mileage be so poor???
That's as bad as my Grand Cherokee!

Re: XC90 gas mileage (blujeep)

yea, 15 is a bummer. That will probably make a lot of people head twords the 2.5T, and the fact that from what we have been hearing, the 2.5 is nicer to drive for day to day types of driving.

Good point.
I hope that if they really are working on a new 6 sp gearbox that it might help out with the mileage numbers...

2.5T AWD City Mileage so far
15 - 17 MPG, based on what others have been posting Volvo's advertised City mileage is high about 5-10% off of actual results people are seeing so far.

This has been discussed in this thread: http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...age=2
[ Quote from curve001 ]
I get about 12 mpg on city driving. Something is wrong with the specs. I drive in Toropnto and there isn't a lot of hills. Stop and go traffice, like another big city. Its a far cry from the spec sheet.
Depends on what you're referring to as the specs. The EPA `estimates' posted on the window sticker is just that - an estimate. Check the small print at the bottom of the sticker below the EPA figures. Using an example of 24 mpg city and 31 mpg hwy, it will state something to the effect of `......majority of vehicles with these estimates will achieve between 20 and 28 mpg city and between 26 and 36 mpg hwy.' That would amount to a nearly 17% tolerance either way.
With the T6, the EPA estimates are 15 hwy and 20 city. 17% low would equate to 12.5 and 16.6, respectively. 17% high would equate to 17.6 and 23.4, respectively. Though 12 mpg is low, it's pretty much at the tolerance limits.
If you own a 2.5T, now that's another story and it would be unreasonably low.
As I had mentioned in the above response, the EPA estimates allow for a tolerance of 17% either way, at least in the example given.

I've seen a fair number of posters who have gotten a lot closer to the EPA estimates as well, so it's probably within reason.

Re: XC90 gas mileage (1sttimevolvo)

I wish the spec sheet was true. Those of you getting close to 16 mpg or better on 2.5T must live in a different kind of city than Toronto. I still get less than 13 mpg after 7,000 miles on the truck. Who knows, maybe we have more traffic lights here ?

Re: XC90 gas mileage (GrecianVolvo)

thats funny, it really is, now I love my xc90 and everything, but i would love to get 15, my average on my t6 since i got it is 14.6. I asked the dealer and they said that is normal. Two different dealers said there is nothing they can do. So i guess i will have to live with being less than average. OR hold it, is it really the norm and volvo is trying to make it all sound better..... hmm you be the judge.

Our 2.5T with 11k miles is very close to those figures if driven with a light right foot. Around town is more like 16,17 and highway 22, 23.
1. tire pressue 36psi.
2. 93 octane fuel since mile 221 when we took ownership.
3. synthetic motor oil supplied by Volvo dealership, I believe it is Castrol Syntec.
