Re: XC90 20 inch Wheels (GrecianVolvo)

Yes Yannis,
I agree about the Heico wheels and that maybe the option I go with since I already have some Heico parts on my XC90. The only issue with the Heico wheels is cost. That is why I was looking at some other less expensive options.
I guess you get what you pay for!

They do look good though.
The 50% off a new wheel if damaged is a nice incentive to buy, the problem is you get raped big time on the initial price to get this insurance.

Re: (glenspeed)

The only thing holding me back on the O.Z.'s is the fact that they are only 8" wide and that might limit my tire choices.
After seeing the pics of Tim's 19" Heico's that might be the way to go!
I will be sure to post the pics after I get some wheels.

Look at my XC90 D5 185 Summum with H&R lowering kit and OZ Canyon ST 8x20 and Toyo Proxes 265/45-20

Re: (afjeld)

Very nice. The best part to me is how it's lowered. Just looks so much better when it's not trying to look like a 4x4. Volvo should offer a factory lowered option. Just no reason for it to be sitting so high. I'd of paid for that.
However, how much is yours lowered? The rear wheels look to be 'squatting' some. One reason I've postponed my lowering. Could you take a level picture from the back?
Now if I could just find some deep dish rims....
thanks!

For the folks with 19" and 20" rims... Did you offset your wheels (either by choice or just by difference between aftermarket wheel and stock offsets)? Also, how are 8" wide wheels and wider tires affecting your turning radius? Oops, one more question, any ride quality regrets?
I am looking at 19x8 BBS CK wheels (about 5 mm wider offset) and Pirelli Scorpion Asm tires (10.4" width). Want to verify I am in for no big problems.

Re: (GeoffStahl)

There are no problems with this setting!
The OZ Canyon's offset is rather original, ET 48. The H&R kit is progressive and with new rear shocks. The car behaves totally different than original. My dealer has installed and adjusted everything.
This is my first SUV. I didn't like the soft driving impression but now I'm really satisfied ;-)
Cheers
Anders
Norway
I found that link last night while surfing. Have you noticed any treadwear issues in the back? That camber looks pretty aggressive, which is the problem I find on most lowering kits for XC90s.
I'm thinking seriously about the Heico suspension setup. It's pricey, but a full kit, so an interesting proposition as I have a Nivamat car and I like that they do their development on the Nurburgring.
T6tim, is your car lowered or is it hunkered because the e-brake is on and it's parked on a hill. I'm hoping the former, because I like the look of the ride height. It looks lowered, but not quite aggressive.

As for 20-inch wheel options, check this out. It's a wheel by Mille Miglia called the ASUV. It's sold in the US through Tire Rack, but I don't think for the Volvo yet. I did find fitment though via Mille Miglia's UK site here.... http://www.millemiglia.co.uk/applications.htm
Says 9.5x20, ET38.
Personally, I'm in love with the look. It's fairly factory in appearance and awful close to the R's Pegasus wheel. I've emailed Tire Rack and am checking on how hard it would be to get these here, and what it would take.

Re: ([email protected])

George,
I will post a new picture without my winter wheels in the trunk. The camber is not that aggressive. Remember, you can't only change the springs when you have nivamat shocks...
The H&R Company delivers springs to cars in DTM, WRC and more... I've had lowering kits from both Eibach and H&R on my former BMW's, Audi's and Volvo's and in this case I preferred H&R because they lower more and comes with rear shocks...
I think you will have a problem with the wheel you have picked out. The offset (ET 38) is to low. Mille Miglia is also a cheep Italian wheel...
I chosed OZ because of quality and "standard" offset.
Cheers
Anders

Re: (afjeld)

I've heard of some people doing just springs, but I don't plan on that. That's why I'm intrigued by the H&R setup, along with Heico.
I spoke to my contact at Tire Rack, and he told me the ASUV in that size has been discontinued. When their stock when to zero, it automatically dropped from their website. So I guess that wheel option is out.
