Please help if you can:
my 2004 XC70 has a low whirring/whining noise that I can hear at low rpms. It's RPM related, because it chnaged pitch when accelerating up to 20mph. Nothing terrible, but I hear it when I have radio is off. Maybe steering pump??
Ideas??

I'll sit back and also wait to see how many people tell me to turn the radio up.........

Re: XC70 low speed whirring noise (Bittersweet)

I get a noise that sounds like maybe a fan (not a normal fan, but one that's losing a bearing or something) or something intermittently at startup and sometimes at low idle. I wonder if we're getting the same thing?

Re: XC70 low speed whirring noise (Soulman)

It has 93K miles. Sounds like from driver's side of dash. I'm thinking it has something to do w/steering. But don't know.
Noise occurs as I acdelerate up to 30-40ish. Turning the wheel doesn't affect it, but as speed increases, noise changes pitch.
Maybe i'll return to carshop for checkup.
It's not a fan tho.
