We're getting ready to order an XC70 and we've been told new orders will now be the '07 models - cool! Our '04 XC90 has the factory bi-Xenons. They are OK, but it is annoying that unlike the halogens on my wife's '04 S60, the bi-Xenons cannot go to hi-beam mode and stay there without turning the dash switch from the "O" position for DRL over to the other spot. I normally leave the headlamp switch in that "O" position so that the DRL sensor works. In that position, the high beams will not stay on - the switch lever returns the lights to non-high beam mode, by design, I suppose.
Sooooo... (1) do the XC70 bi-Xenons work the same? Is there going to be any change to them on the '07 model?

Not only they will switch from the current HORRIBLE set up to the S40-like projector lenses (which are 100% better and more efficient) but they will also be "active bi-xenons", meaning that they lights will turn up to 15 degrees to the same direction the steering wheel turns.
I would not waste my money on bi-xenons on any P2 car from MY04-MY06; on the opposite, I highily recommend them on any MY04.5-current S40/V50/C70 or any MY07 Volvo.
Yannis

Re: XC70 - 2007, Bi-Xenons? (GrecianVolvo)

Thanks Yannis - been a while since I've been here on the forum - nice to see you are still active! And, that is great news on the improvement to the Bi-Xenons for MY07. I didn't want to go so far as saying they were horrible on our '04 XC90, as I was afraid of being jumped on! However I certainly wasn't about to spring for the money on the new XC70 if they were the same!
